We’re proud to have earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group! Each fall and spring, The Leapfrog Group assigns Hospital Safety Grades of “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” to hospitals across the country based on more than 30 performance measures that look at accidents, injuries, errors and infections, as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent these types of incidents. While getting an “A” grade means a lot to us, we’re more excited for what it means for our community to know how hard we’re working to focus on patient safety, patient care and the overall patient experience at Blount Memorial Hospital each day for each patient. #healthcare #community

The gift of time is precious! At our annual Volunteer Services Awards Luncheon today, we honored the truly remarkable 20,582 hours donated to Blount Memorial in the last fiscal year by the 136 people who make up our group of Auxiliary Volunteers. While each of our volunteers is so appreciated, today’s honorees received pins marking their accumulated hours of service – some for 100 hours, some for thousands of hours. Husband and wife duo Don and Mary Lou Anderson again topped the list with an amazing 19,500 hours of volunteer time at Blount Memorial Hospital. We also got a chance to honor our Hospice volunteers, who provided more than 625 hours of remarkable service to our Hospice families in the last year. Our Auxiliary and Hospice volunteers are terrific and dedicated groups, and the lives of our patients, physicians and staff members would be much more difficult without the gift of their time. It was a great day for some great visitors! Today, we were honored to be a part of Boys & Girls Clubs of Blount County's "Thank-A-Thon." Following their summer field day visit with us back in July, some of the kids came back today to thank us -- presenting us with a signed photo, donuts and some handmade thank you cards.
