Blueshift produces AeroZero® Thermal Protection Systems for high performance product designs.

About us

Blueshift’s talented team of material experts has been growing steadily since our inception in late 2013. When we began there was an urgent need for lighter-weight and lower-profile flexible materials that could protect critical parts and structures in product designs. As a result, we have gathered some of the best minds from around the world to help product designers create safer and more sustainable products with our advanced materials.

We are excited to announce our official partnership with Lilium, developer of the first all-electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) jet! 🚁 🔋 Lilium has selected Blueshift to be the official supplier of thermal protection systems for its initial series production aircraft. We will provide our transformational AeroZero® TPS, which will fit within Lilium’s battery design to help prevent burn through and mitigate the risk of thermal runaway propagation. Tim Burbey, President at Blueshift, said: “We have enjoyed our collaboration and look forward to continued work with the Lilium team in protecting their battery packs and other critical areas within their aircraft. Our partnership will prove the incomparable benefits of our technology in promoting a more sustainable method of transportation.” The Lilium Pioneer Edition Jet is the first planned model of the Lilium Jet and will comfortably seat four passengers on estimated non-stop flights of up to 175 km at 250 km/h at launch. The first manned flight of the Lilium Jet is scheduled for late 2024, with entry into service expected in 2026. Martin Schuebel, Lilium’s Senior Vice President Procurement, added: “Blueshift’s thermal protection system is light, thin and easy to incorporate into our strict design requirements, while producing exceptional thermal results.” Read the full press release here: https://lnkd.in/ewDRxjHN

Our next podcast episode is live! This week, we were delighted to be joined by Danny K., Senior Business Development Manager at Blueshift. In this episode, Danny introduces us to Blueshift and what exactly the company does. He goes into detail about its product line of which material solutions are most used in the Advanced Air Mobility market. We asked Danny if there was a particular gap in the market that Blueshift had identified, and as the company plays in several other industries, we talk about some of the other projects the team are working on. Danny then shares his thoughts about the main challenges in aviation and defense and why Blueshift’s technology is so important. https://ow.ly/w5uL50SqMk1 #evtolinsights #blueshift #podcast #newepisode #interview #advancedairmobility #evtol #airtaxi #aerospace #usa #electricaviation

Blueshift's technology, due to its 85% air content, is used in two main application areas: thermal protection and ultra-low dielectric materials. For thermal applications, Blueshift's AeroZero® thermal protection systems offer an unprecedented weight to performance ratio. The high flexibility and thin profile allow for easy application onto complex parts. Plus, AeroZero thermal protection systems (TPS) can easily be combined with other substrates (like metals, graphite, polyimide films, fabrics) depending on the specific requirements needed. Typical use of the TPS are aircraft skins, battery box assemblies, engine areas, smart weapons, space vehicles, and electronic/medical devices. In ultra-low dielectric applications that require a thin, flexible, high temp and easy to integrate material into designs, Blueshift has developed their PhaseBlue™ product line. PhaseBlue is used to support applications in antennas, radomes, cables, and in some cases even used as an alternative for PFAS materials. With two distinct product lines, you can have confidence that you will find a solution to your most pressing design issues with Blueshift.
