About us
Boston Micro Fabrication (BMF) specializes in micro precision 3D printing. The company’s microArch system uses a 3D printing approach called PμSL (Projection Micro-Stereolithography) that leverages light, customizable optics, a high quality movement platform and controlled processing technology to produce the industry’s most accurate and precise high-resolution 3D prints for product development, research and industrial short run production. The technology represents a true industry breakthrough by empowering product manufacturers to capitalize on the benefits of 3D printing without sacrificing quality or scale.

🔬 Revolutionizing Cancer Treatment with 3D Printing! This technical paper published in Springer Nature introduces a bio-inspired intratumoral catheter, designed to keep medications exactly where they're needed in liver tumors. Fabricated using BMF’s projection micro stereolithography (PµSL) technology, the catheter includes 0.4 mm sideholes and finely detailed barbs, inspired by bee stingers, that secure it within the tumor. 🔍 Unlike traditional 3D printing technologies like PolyJet or basic SLA —which couldn’t achieve the precision needed for these ultra-small features—PµSL allowed for the precise formation of both the barbs and sideholes, achieving a structure that other methods couldn’t match. This breakthrough led to 183x higher drug concentration in target areas versus standard IV methods, with promising implications for targeted cancer therapies. Boston Micro Fabrication’s microArch S240 system used to produce pure copper and alloy metal micro-scale heatsinks via an investment casting (lost wax) technique. In a recent study led by Oraib Al-Ketan, Ph.D. at New York University Abu Dhabi, Boston Micro Fabrication’s microArch S240 system was used to produce pure copper and alloy metal micro-scale heatsinks via an investment casting (lost wax) technique. Using BMF’s high-resolution resin to form precise molds, the team achieved complex, micro-architected heat sink designs with a 10µm XY resolution that delivered up to a 13% temperature reduction under forced convection. This approach combines the flexibility of additive manufacturing with the scalability of casting, resulting in highly effective, usable cooling solutions for compact electronic devices.
