Cervical cancer: It's preventable This Cervical Health Awareness Month Get Screened, Vaccinated January ushers in a new year and also Cervical Health Awareness Month — a perfect reminder about important steps you can take to prevent cervical cancer. Each year nearly 14,000 women in the U.S. get cervical cancer, and about 4,300 don’t survive. Yet cervical cancer is one of the few cancers that’s almost totally preventable with screening and HPV (human papillomavirus) vaccination. Family Birth Center welcomes 1st baby of 2025 Parents Lauren and Gregory Harmerling of Arvada gave birth to the first baby born on Jan. 1, 2025, at BCH's Family Birth Center at Foothills Hospital, welcoming their second child at 8:18 a.m.: A baby girl named Collins Harmerling, weighing 7 pounds and 14 ounces and measuring 20.5 inches long. Foothills Hospital among best places to have a baby: U.S. News Wanting the best for your newborn starts with great maternity care. To help guide expectant parents, U.S. News & World Report, the global authority in hospital rankings and consumer advice, has released its 2025 Best Hospitals for Maternity Care — and our Foothills Hospital made the list once again. Jennifer Winston, U.S. News & World Report’s health data scientist, said in a news release that the 2025 list is the most comprehensive since it began evaluating hospitals in 2021. The publication evaluated an all-time high of 817 hospitals that provided labor and delivery data, but only about half have been named 2025 Best Hospitals for Maternity Care. Celebrating our 1,000th baby of 2024 It has become a holiday season to remember at Boulder Community Health (BCH). On Dec 18, 2024, at 11:28 a.m., our Family Birth Center at Foothills Hospital welcomed a special festive gift to one Westminster family: Baby Ivy Althea Brigham weighed in at 7 pounds, 13 ounces and measured 20 inches long, born to parents Effie and Hank Brigham. With Little Ivy’s arrival, our Family Birth Center welcomed the 1,000th delivery for the first time in a single year for nearly a decade.
