I must take a moment to thank Allie K. Miller for spending her time and sharing her wisdom with nearly 100 Break Through Tech fellows at a Break Through Tech Connect event hosted by Accenture last week. Allie is in extraordinary demand as a speaker and advisor and could have spent those hours consulting with any number of Fortune 100 companies - and instead she reached out to me and asked what she could do to support our amazing young women - the next generation of tech talent in the AI ecosystem. After giving a terrific keynote AND participating in a panel with Lee Barrett and Teresa Tung - she stayed for another hour and answered the questions of a throng of students that gathered around her. This is #liftingasyouclimb as good as it gets. Thank you so much Allie for all you do and for supporting this work.

🌟 Meet Anusha Singhai, a second-year Computational Math student at UCLA, whose journey with the Break Through Tech AI Program has been nothing short of inspiring! Drawn to the program after attending an information session, Anusha found a unique opportunity to dive into the world of #AI. From simplifying complex topics to applying machine learning in a real-world project, her experience with Break Through Tech has helped her gain both skills and confidence. Currently, Anusha is collaborating with the UCLA Neurology Department on a project that leverages machine learning to classify molecules for regenerative potential—a powerful step towards positive social impact in healthcare. It was a real honor and pleasure to participate in Salesforce’s AI Equity Summit. Not surprisingly, this powerhouse company put together a super interesting agenda and an extraordinary group of speakers - including the one and only Dr. Joy Buolamwini. I was honored to sit on a panel with LaShonda Anderson-Williams, Luana Génot, and Sabastian V. Niles - and get the chance to talk about our profoundly broken supply chain in recruiting diverse tech talent into the AI ecosystem. The good news is that the talent IS out there - we just need to provide these talented women, including women of color, low income and first gen college students, the privilege to simply show what they can do.
