Meet 𝗗𝗿. 𝗔𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘆𝗮 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗮, a PhD candidate in Synthetic Biology at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski" and a researcher at Agiffin Ltd. Antoniya is working on the development of new antibacterial agents and biosensors for medical and environmental applications. She also focuses on sustainable agriculture, innovating in pest control and organic fertilizers.🧬 Her passion for synthetic biology started with her deep interest in #genetics and #biotechnology, inspired by her professors who guided her through complex subjects. Their commitment and teaching methods sparked her love for the field, and she is now driven by her vision of #sustainable #agriculture that can ensure #foodsecurity while protecting #biodiversity.🌍 Antoniya recommends her field because it offers the opportunity for an international career, the chance to build businesses in deep technology, and the ability to contribute to international research projects.🚀 Her message to young girls considering STEAM? Meet 𝗗𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝗞𝘂𝗿𝗽𝘆𝘁𝗲-𝗟𝗶𝗽𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗸𝗲, an electronics and computer science engineer who is currently the CEO of several technology start-ups and a lecturer at Vilnius Tech. Since childhood, Dovilė was captivated by the logic and structure of mathematics and computer science. Her interest in this field began with a data visualisation course during college, taught by an inspiring professor. With his support, she pursued a PhD that combined network science with economics, developing a deep passion for solving complex problems using data. Eszter emphasises that her professor’s openness to new ideas and flexible guidance were pivotal in her academic journey. His ability to encourage creative problem-solving and treat her as an equal partner during her PhD work greatly shaped her career.
