Brown Girls Doc Mafia (BGDM) is a nonprofit organization advocating for over 5,000 women and non-binary professionals of color working in the documentary film industry around the world. Our mission is to nurture, amplify, and invest in the creative capacity and professional success of BIPOC women and nonbinary people working in the documentary industry. Since our founding in 2015, Brown Girls Doc Mafia has created a vibrant online community, launched the BGDM Member Directory for discovering BIPOC women and nonbinary talent, provided over $200K in grants and mentorship, and implemented numerous development programs advocating for members' access, visibility, creativity, growth, sustainability, and power in the documentary film industry.
