I am thrilled to have worked for Bryn Mawr Communications, YoungMD Connect and Samsara Vision at my very first American Academy of Ophthalmology! I learned so much about surgical techniques, implantable devices and lenses, scopes, diagnostics and more! I am confident that my knowledge will only expand as I anticipate entering the field post graduation. I am so grateful to the YoungMD Connect and Bryn Mawr Communications teams for consistently trusting me and teaching me while I work, and allowing me to aid their teams’ events. I am proud to be right alongside the very best! Additionally, I’d like to thank Samsara Vision. This team works tirelessly to give people suffering from age related low vision their lives back. Samsara understands that these individuals need care, and will stop at nothing to allow for these formerly hopeless patients to have a chance at seeing again. Finally, I’d like to thank the man that started my passion for vision care. My father, Tom Ruggia, is one of the most dedicated and driven professionals I know in the space. Growing up listening in on his conference calls he’d take in car rides with us, I honestly felt I was missing out on a life changing space. I like to joke that I have 20+ years in the field considering these exposures growing up, but no one could have prepared and primed me to learn about the eye quite like my dad. I am honored to carry the Ruggia name on into the next generation of eye care. #aao2024 #amd #maculardegeneration #retina #youngophthalmologists
