The Building Industry Association of Washington (BIAW) is one of the state’s largest and most influential organizations fighting for the rights of residential home builders, remodelers and associates in Washington state. Chartered in 1950 by the National Association of Home Builders, BIAW represents thousands of member companies statewide in collaboration with our 14 local building associations. BIAW battles 365 days a year on members’ behalf so we can build homes people can afford.

About us
We are the Building Industry Association of Washington (BIAW) and homes start here. We are the people who build, remodel and maintain homes. We create jobs, economic opportunity and strong communities. As one of the largest home building associations in America, BIAW champions the rights of our members and fights for affordable homeownership at all levels of government. We provide award-winning education that builds and supports a strong workforce in the trades. We strengthen our members by offering employee health care plans and state’s largest, longest-operating Retro (Retrospective Rating) safety incentive program (ROII). We give a voice to thousands of builders, remodelers, skilled trades professionals and their associates who help Washington families enjoy the American dream of owning a home.

Protect renters today, but hurt them tomorrow.. Our Legislative Director Andrea M. Smiley, MPA breaks down the deceptive #HB1217 in front of the House Housing Committee. This bill might look like rent control, but it’s a trap. 🚨 Landlords could reset rent to ANY amount after tenants move out, leaving future renters vulnerable. Renters deserve real solutions, not smoke and mirrors. #HousingCrisis #WApolitics #seattle #auburn #tacoma #spokane #bellingham #vancouver #AffordableHousing #waLeg #BIAW

Building Industry Association of Washington reposted this
Last year, Building Industry Association of Washington created a recognition for our top ten member legislative advocates. And, we highlighted them. I want all my BIAW members to know you can beat these people IF you engage in industry advocacy. I like a little friendly competition, plus this accessible and affordable housing. Kent Arola – 74 points Jay Roberts – 73 points Juli Bacon – 72 points Kevin Russell – 72 points Miriam Villiard – 71 points Tim Lovelass – 70 points Wayne Keffer – 70 points Ron Perkerewicz – 70 points Lucas Shifflett – 68 points Evan Mann – 66 points Kurt Wilson – 66 points HOW do you get points? You sign in on bills, you join our legislative update calls, you respond to calls to action, you testify, you respond when we call you to ask you a question on how building a house actually works, you testify when asked, you get the idea -- session starts Monday. It's time for YOU to be a legislative champion.
