💡 Why Lands' End Should Be the Next Retail Turnaround 💡 Dear Lands' End, you've built a strong foundation, and the potential to accelerate your transformation is immense. Bullish specializes in this kind of challenge. 1️⃣ Show up where your roots are 1️⃣ Your NY pop-up was a hit, selling out and sparking customer reconsideration. Next capitalize on this momentum by focusing on locations that reflect your geographical heritage. Think Madison (Flagship), Cincinnati, Pittsburgh. Look to Meijer (~$22B in revenue) and Buc-ee's, Ltd. (~20% CAGR in 10 years), which thrive by rooting themselves elsewhere; there’s untapped opportunity waiting beyond the coasts. 2️⃣ Double down on what your customer wants 2️⃣ Embroidery-customized totes, metallic puffers, fleece-lined clogs — these are on-trend, but who for? Abercrombie & Fitch Co. turned itself around by laser-focusing on their core consumer. Gap Inc. is betting on change with the 2024 hire of Zac Posen. Lands' End’s strength lies in creating products your customers love — lean into that clarity and build a product assortment that wins their hearts (and closets). 3️⃣ The timing is now 3️⃣ Your economic moment is here. All Americans are rethinking purchases. Walmart recently reported its market share growth was driven primarily by households earning $100,000+ (accounting for 75% of the gains last quarter). Now is the time to make bold, strategic bets to become the next big turnaround story in American retail. Lands' End, if you're ready to write your next chapter, let's connect. You know where to find us. 😉 #Turnaround #Transformations #MarketingStrategy #BrandTransformation #BullishMoves #LandsEnd

Last night Emma Sokoloff, Daniel Faierman and I co-hosted a dinner for CPG Angels with support from the best Maria Pope. It was an epic collab with epic food and conversation all about what consumer angels are watching right now and where they are writing checks. Angels are so key to the journey of any company, and those early believers have helped so many breakout CPG brands get off the ground and take flight. I'm always grateful to spend time with folks who are equally Bullish on consumer. Lakehouse Ventures x Habitat Partners x Bullish x Carta = a great time

FINALLY, a market map for founders of VCs investing in consumer ✨ Over the past year, it’s become increasingly difficult to identify which VCs are still committed to backing consumer startups. This uncertainty leaves founders wondering where to turn for funding and who is actively pursuing opportunities in the space. To help, we’ve compiled a curated list of early-stage consumer VCs still investing in consumer tech, marketplaces, prosumer tools, subscription models, and CPG/eCommerce. This list makes it easier for founders to connect with investors ready to fuel the next wave of consumer innovation.

Jasper’s tools could be a “massive opportunity” for smaller companies or even for small teams within larger companies, Bullish Managing Partner Brent Vartan told Digiday. “AI is incredibly helpful at the very beginning and it’s incredibly helpful at the very end,” he added, referencing our philosophy about AI's role for agencies. Jasper, one of the earlier players in generative AI marketing tech, has developed new ways to give marketers more control over AI-created content. Today, the Austin-based startup is adding several new features to give marketers more control and consistency when creating and scaling AI-generated content. One new feature, Brand IQ, uses API-based tooling to let marketers embed brand guidelines into an AI model for consistent text and visual outputs. It also provides new ways to fine-tune an AI model that helps inform voice, tone and style. In this piece by Marty Swant, we speak to Loreal Lynch, Nicole (Denman) Greene of Gartner, Brian Yamada of VML, Megan Hueter, and Brent Vartan.

How are Gen Z and Millennials reshaping holiday traditions and celebrations? As part of my fall marketing/content internship with Bullish, I worked on this Cultural Tension article that explores how younger generations balance new-age traditions like Friendsgiving with more traditional, family-centered celebrations. As part of the project, I also conducted a survey to explore these themes. ➡️ 79% of respondents maintain traditions from their childhood ➡️ 53% of respondents have created new traditions with friends and chosen family 🔗 Read the full story here: https://lnkd.in/g2nT7EVB Thank you to Natalie Sportelli and Sophie Hadfield for supporting me on this article!

Our latest Cultural Tension focuses on new-age holidays. As we head into another holiday season, people are making their arrangements to celebrate. But social media and headlines paint a stark picture of a pullback on holiday celebrations: Gen Z would prefer to spend Thanksgiving alone. Millennials are rejecting family gatherings. Is there actually less interest in traditional gatherings or are we simply celebrating differently? To answer that question, we studied our evolving relationship with traditions to learn how younger generations are approaching their holiday plans - from Thanksgiving to Friendsgiving and everything in-between. To do so, we conducted our own study, focusing on college students and their view of the holidays, to understand if traditional family holiday gatherings are on the way out, or if there’s more to the story. Our research revealed a more complex reality—one that's relevant to consumers and brands alike. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/euQN5D5E
