About us
The Bureau of Indian Education supports educational programs and residential facilities for American Indian students from federally recognized tribes at 183 elementary and secondary schools and dormitories located on 64 reservations in 23 states serving more than 48,000 individual K-12 American Indian students and residential boarders. The BIE also directly oversees two post-secondary institutions: Haskell Indian Nations University in Lawrence, Kansas and Southwestern Indian Polytechnic Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The BIE is recruiting highly qualified individuals to make an impact on the lives of American Indian students.
