The Burns & Scalo partnership began over five decades ago in 1956, when John T. Scalo and Richard "Duke" Burns shared a common vision: to be the very best at whatever they did. Beginning as a two-man residential roofing company, Burns & Scalo quickly grew into a successful operation in the Pittsburgh region. The company has experienced consistent growth and was nationally recognized in 2015 as the top commercial roofing contractor in the nation, employing over 250 people regionally. Burns & Scalo is headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and serves the entire Mid-Atlantic / Eastern seaboard region with a branch office strategically located in Columbus Ohio. The company celebrated its 65th year in business in 2021 and welcomed the third generation into the business. Burns & Scalo operates together with 7 distinct and strategic additional Scalo-owned companies.

Last week, Burns & Scalo had the honor of installing a free roof replacement for a Navy Veteran as part of our new Roofs for the Red, White, & Blue Program. Tim Nicotra applied to our program within the final hour of the application window, and we were immediately inspired by his story. A 22-year Navy veteran himself, Tim now has children following in his footsteps and joining the service. "We were incredibly honored to give back to Tim since he has sacrificed so much to protect our country," said Adam Galis, Vice President of Burns & Scalo Roofing. "At our company, we believe in supporting the communities we serve, and this project reflects our core values of gratitude and care. Our veterans deserve our support, and ensuring Tim and his family have a safe, secure roof over their heads is one way we can show our gratitude." "When Adam called to let me know I had won, I couldn't believe it. It still hasn't 100% hit me", explained Nicotra after the roof install. "My family has been in dire need of a roof replacement for years, and I am so grateful to Burns & Scalo and their willingness to provide a free roof for my family." Just in time for Thanksgiving, Burns & Scalo was honored to give back to Tim after so many years of him giving back to his country!
