I'm deeply grateful to SDAIA for inviting me as an AI expert speaker in the session "AI for National Growth: Driving Innovation in Critical Sectors," at the ATHKA KSU kick-off event hosted at King Saud University (KSU) Medical City Auditorium. Honored to share the stage with an exceptional panel: - Helen Wang – Visiting Scholar at Wyss Institute at Harvard University, Co-Founder of Parallel Intelligence Singapore, and EcoGen Capital Partners, specializing in DeepTech investments globally. Helen leads innovation across MIT and Harvard ecosystems, advising on commercialization strategies. - Zahid A. – Founder & CEO of TECHMEDO, advisor to White House officials. Zahid has collaborated extensively with institutions like Harvard, Stanford, NHS, and NIH on AI-driven healthcare innovation. - Shahid Azim – Serial entrepreneur, Co-Founder & CEO of C10 Labs, prominent figure in Cambridge’s innovation ecosystem closely collaborating with MIT, Harvard, Google, Facebook, and Apple. Shahid previously served as an investor with MIT Angels and instructor at MIT Media Lab. - Harry B.erg (Moderator) – Special Advisor on AI at SDAIA, former Y Combinator entrepreneur dedicated to training AI engineers, and guest speaker delivering AI demonstrations at Harvard and Oxford. The event was impeccably orchestrated by Nuha Alhejji (SDAIA) with invaluable logistics support from Dr. Mohammed Alzaid (KSU AI Office). We were honored by senior academic leaders, notably Dr. Mona Soliman, Vice Dean of Academic Affairs at KSU, alongside leaders from the College of Medicine, KSU Medical City, and the College of Computing and Information Sciences. Distinguished attendees included James Ehrlich (Stanford), Emily Stoler (Harvard’s Wyss Institute), and Manail Anis Ahmed (Princeton University). Following our panel, students from KSU (Yara Altukhaim), Stanford (Kiana M.), Oxford (@udai D.), Imperial College (Owen Lee Scott), and Harvard (Anika Lakhani) participated in a vibrant student-focused session titled "Shaping the Future: How Students Can Thrive in the AI Revolution," exploring essential AI skills, emerging career paths, and their roles in driving global innovation. I left the event reflecting deeply on critical questions raised during our discussions: 1. How can students not actively using AI today fairly compete internationally for scholarships with peers already skilled in AI? 2. Are we unintentionally creating barriers for our brightest students to succeed globally? 3. Could the rapid adoption of ChatGPT and GenAI create a digital academic divide between students and professors? 4. Are we teaching students beyond how to responsibly use AI—aligning ethically with established institutional norms—so they do not get in trouble when engaging internationally? Let me know what are your questions, and if you are interested in collaborating to shape an AI-powered educational future for all. #KSU #ATHKAKSU #AI #EDTECH #AIEDUCATION
