In 1973, Larry Klug began his journey with CABVI as a middle schooler navigating vision challenges caused by nystagmus and nearsightedness. With the help of Dr. Robert Kemper, a monocular spotter, and handheld devices, Larry adapted to succeed in school. Fast forward to today: Larry says he feels he has come full circle, now serving as an Assistive Technology Instructor at CABVI for the past 10 ½ years, empowering others with vision loss to embrace tools for independence. We are proud to provide services to individuals like Larry and even more proud to have him as part of our team. 💙 Pictured is Larry holding the monocular spotter he has had all these years! #CABVI #Cincinnati #AssistiveTechnology #VisionLossJourney #Empowerment #CommunityImpact

📚✨ January is National Braille Literacy Month! ✨📚 On January 4, we celebrated World Braille Day and honored the legacy of Louis Braille, the creator of the braille system that continues to empower people who are blind or visually impaired. Born on January 4, 1809, Louis changed the world by developing a tool that transforms dots into independence, connection, and opportunity. As we continue to celebrate his impact throughout National Braille Literacy Month, we’re reminded of the importance of creating a world where accessibility and inclusion are for everyone! #CABVI #Cincinnati #WorldBrailleDay #BrailleEmpowers #AccessibilityForAll #AccessibilityMatters #InclusivityMatters Image Description: Decorative image for National Braille Literacy Month which includes a photo of CABVI client, Jordan Brown, reading braille.

🌟 January is Glaucoma Awareness Month! 🌟 Glaucoma is often called the "silent thief of sight" because it can cause vision loss or blindness if left untreated, often without noticeable symptoms in its early stages. Early detection is key to preserving vision! At CABVI, we are dedicated to supporting individuals living with vision loss and raising awareness about conditions like glaucoma. 🗒️ Take action: ✔️ Schedule regular eye exams. ✔️ Learn about your risk factors. ✔️ Spread the word to help protect sight in our community. Together, we can work toward a future where vision loss is no longer silent. 💙 #CABVI #Cincinnati #GlaucomaAwarenessMonth #Glaucoma #VisionHealth #EyeCare Video Description: Decorative video with facts about glaucoma. - Glaucoma is often painless, and about half of all cases go undiagnosed. - Having a close relative with glaucoma can increase your risk of developing it by up to 9 times. - In the United States, glaucoma affects nearly 10% of individuals aged 80 and older. - Glaucoma is the leading cause of irreversible blindness globally. - Early detection and treatment can help prevent vision loss from glaucoma.
