The CDK cyberattack that harmed U.S. auto dealerships delayed the launch of Hyundai’s online retail platform co-developed with retail giant Amazon, but the automaker’s North American CEO said it will be ready to go as early as January. More than half of Hyundai’s dealers were impacted by the software outage last summer, undercutting momentum to launch the program, Jose Muñoz told Automotive News during a Nov. 21 interview at the Los Angeles Auto Show. A year ago, Hyundai used the same venue to announce the partnership. In 2023, Hyundai said it would pilot the program with a group of 18 dealers and use Amazon employees in respective regions as consumer guinea pigs. The objective of the beta phase was to work out the complexities of selling a car online, including trade-in valuation and financing. The automaker originally said the six-month pilot phase would start in January 2024, and that dealers who opted into the program after the initial beta phase would be able to sell its full portfolio of vehicles by the end of the year. The prospect of selling cars online became increasingly popular during the pandemic, when dealership shutdowns forced automakers to consider alternative ways to sell vehicles. What do you think about the new Jaguar logo? The new TV commercial is also creating a stir. Those mocking the ad on social media included Tesla CEO and X owner Elon Musk, who stated “Do you sell cars?” likely referencing that the video did not include any vehicles. Other criticism ranged from comparing the ad to “United Colors of Benetton” to calling it “cheap brand perfume.” And some people accused Jaguar of going “woke.”

The Evolution of a Legend: Toyota Supra From its debut as the Celica Supra in 1979, Toyota’s Supra has always been about pushing limits. Initially styled after the Celica, it quickly distinguished itself with a 2.6L inline-6 engine—the first Toyota production engine with electronic fuel injection. By 1986, the Supra broke free from the Celica name, gaining its own identity and a powerful 3.0L DOHC engine. In 1987, it embraced turbocharging and became the first Toyota in the U.S. with both a turbo engine and anti-lock brakes. The 1993 redesign launched Supra into the supercar league, with a 320-HP turbo model celebrated as a world-beater. Innovations like hollow carpet fibers and lightweight spoilers showcased Toyota’s commitment to performance. Though production ended in 1999, the Supra name lives on as a symbol of going “beyond” – a legacy built to surpass expectations. #ToyotaSupra #CarHistory #AutoLegends

General Motors and Dan Gilbert’s Bedrock LLC are planning to tear down two of the automaker’s five Renaissance Center towers as part of a reimagining of the long-struggling complex the automaker is vacating next year in a major realignment of the city’s business and commercial real estate landscape. Two of the 39-story office towers — 300 and 400 — on the Detroit riverfront are slated for demolition, freeing up more land for public space along the water. One of the remaining towers is slated for residential conversion into some 300-400 units, while another is expected to undergo an overhaul as spruced-up office space for new tenants, Kofi Bonner, CEO of Bedrock, said in an interview with Crain’s Detroit Business, an affiliate of Automotive News. The 1,300-room Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center hotel tower, the state’s tallest building at 73 stories and 727 feet, would also be carved up; reducing the hotel to some 850 rooms on the lower levels and reserving the top levels for what Bonner described as high-end residential space. In addition, the five-story atrium at the base of the buildings that includes retail and restaurant space would be opened up to provide generally unimpeded access to the Detroit riverfront from Jefferson Avenue. A promenade-type connection between Jefferson and the river is envisioned. “We really wanted to open up the RenCen complex to the riverfront and provide a pathway to downtown, connected to downtown,” Bonner said in an interview. “It’s 5.5 million square feet, and it’s 5.5 million square feet of two use types (office and mall-like retail) that aren’t as ... prominent in the marketplace as they were when these buildings were built.” Read the full story: https://lnkd.in/eCJTtbGq

For your daily bread. Proverbs 26 1 Honor doesn't go with fools any more than snow with summer or rain with harvest. 3 Guide a horse with a whip, a donkey with a bridle, and a fool with a rod to his back! 4 When arguing with fools, don't answer their foolish arguments, or you will become as foolish as they are. 10 An employer who hires a fool or a bystander is like an archer who shoots recklessly. https://lnkd.in/edvkZr_k
