I was teaching at the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls. My wife, who was in the healthcare industry, got a job with a healthcare provider in Omaha, Nebraska. At that time, our three boys were very young. I resigned from my teaching position to become a trailing spouse. I could not get another teaching job immediately in the Omaha metro area, so I decided to practice what I preached to students. I started a commercial real estate valuation and consulting business. I moved to Dallas in 2019 to build my real estate advisory business. The firm focuses on buyer representation in multitenant retail centers – strip, neighborhood, and community and tenant representation in office and retail space transactions. Best business advice in three words or less? My value proposition. Which section in the bookstore are you most drawn to? Self-improvement section. What is your go-to productivity trick? We are constantly marketing my business. What was your first job? Clerk in a government office. What is your favorite quote or motto? Treat other people as you would like them to treat you.
