🌟 To help the grid, CCAs are going Virtual!🌟 Many CCAs are building or utilizing virtual power plants (VPPs) to help the grid and their customers. Whether through electrified smart homes or widespread alert systems, CCAs are syncing up distributed energy resources, such as residential batteries, smart thermostats, and EVs, to alleviate grid demand and earn their customers on-bill credits. ✅ Today, ~3.5 GW of demand response, like VPPs, exist on the grid ✅ By 2030, California aims to double this to 7 GW ✅ By 2035, VPPs could save California customers $550 million ✅ Different kinds of VPPs are being explored by different CCAs Thank you to Alexandra McGee and Catherine Rowen for taking the time to talk about the VPP work happening at California CCAs, including MCE, Clean Power Alliance, Central Coast Community Energy, Ava Community Energy, and Sonoma Clean Power.
