An FYI for California employers: California's state minimum wage will increase from $16 per hour to $16.50 per hour starting January 1, 2025. This 3.18% increase, proportionate to the U.S. Consumer Price Index (CPI) increase, is a routine adjustment. Per California's Labor Code, the California Department of Finance must adjust the state minimum wage each year on or by August 1 for the following year, so this change is part of a regular process. Due to their industry-specific regulations, a few industries may be excluded from this minimum wage increase.
