Beware of donation scams in the wake of tragedies like the Los Angeles fires. Scammers will duplicate online fundraisers like GoFundMe pages, so they look identical to the real pages, except with slightly different URLs. Before donating, verify you have the correct URL and that you are sending money to the right cause. GoFundMe has set up a list of fundraisers verified by experts here: https://hubs.li/Q032XNkR0.
