Are you going to Supercomputing in Atlanta? The PetaFLOP is back and bigger than ever. It's the most awesome post-conference party. . . despite having "FLOP" in its name. The theme this year is: Field of Blues -- Build it and they will Compute If you think that is a clever name, give us a LIKE using the blue thumbs up 👍 . If you get the pun and think it's a REALLY clever name, give us a LIKE with the yellow lightbulb 💡 .

Another Big Success for Cambridge Computer’s GPU in EDU Seminar Series. Cambridge and NVIDIA had a full house at Harvard Med for the seminar entitled AI Futures at Harvard Medical School. GPU in EDU is a seminar series co-produced by NVIDIA and Cambridge Computer. We travel to universities and research institutions across the country to share ideas and insights related to AI and ML at the intersection of science and IT infrastructure. The content of each session is tailored to the specific interests of the institution hosting the event. Harvard Med chose to focus on deep learning for genomics, NVIDIA software frameworks, and GPU resource management.  For more information about this event or to host a GPU in EDU event at your institution, please contact us through the Cambridge Computer website.  Cambridge Computer has been recognized by NVIDIA as its #1 partner for higher education for four years in a row:  2021, 2022, 2023, 2024.  If you are an NVIDIA customer or prospective customer, Cambridge invites you to meet with us and hear how we help our clients maximize value from their IT infrastructure budgets.   We'd like to thank our friends at Harvard, Run:ai, and NVIDIA for making this event possible. Their support and collaboration were instrumental in making it a memorable and informative event. Special thanks for Run:ai for co-sponsoring the event and sharing insights into their amazing technology for pooling and scheduling GPU resources. We'd also like to thank Christos Alexiadis (Cambridge) and Eliot Eshelman (NVIDIA) for all their work behind the scenes. #HPC #DeepLearning #Genomics #NVIDIA #RunAI #CambridgeComputer #GPUinEDU #HigherEducation #Innovation

35+ Years in Data Storage - Focusing Now on Life Cycle Management for Billions of Files

Datanami just published a really insightful article about Starfish Storage, featuring our product's relevance to mining unstructured data as a corporate asset. Most of the Starfish fan-base gets their ROI from Starfish by saving money on storage costs and personnel costs related to storage management, recovering costs through chargeback, or gaining operational efficiencies through workflows. The Datanami article shifts the focus from managing the storage infrastructure to mining the value of the data itself. In other words, it highlights how Starfish can turn the digital landfill that are your file systems into usable data assets for mining with AI and machine learning. https://lnkd.in/es6zHw67 The gist is that most companies have no idea what they have in their file stores, how to separate good stuff from junk, and they lack a secure method for providing access to files for either training or inference. If you consider how POSIX file permissions work, it's just not possible to hand root privileges over to the data scientists and let them go crazy in your file environment. Starfish solves these problems, and there are no other commercial products on the market that do what we do at the scale at which we do it. So. . . . if you want to do anything meaningful with all of those files, you might want to check us out. www.StarfishStorage.com. If you read the article, please give me a red heart like. If you PLAN to read the article -- but maybe you won't actually do it -- give me a green clapping like. Any other likes will still be appreciated.

Cambridge Computer and NVIDIA teamed to lead a seminar last week at Carnegie Mellon University to discuss how new HPC and GPU architectures impact research computing in higher ed. We had a full room plus a bunch of people attending remotely. There was some lively debate and a lot of great ideas shared. We gave our own version of the NVIDIA GTC recap and led a discussion on the new chip architectures (Grace, Hopper, Blackwell). We also had presentations from Nvidia on the various products and services that they offer that are lesser known to their client base. This was a great chance for different stakeholders in the university to get together in person and bat around ideas, common challenges, etc. Cambridge has funding to bring events like these to a college campus near you. If your university or non-profit research institution is interested in hosting such an event, please reach out.

I'm posting to thank the team at VAST Data for recognizing Cambridge Computer as their top partner or 2024 for academic research. The management team at Cambridge has always been shy about acknowledging vendor awards and joint client wins publicly because our brand inadvertently gets hitched to the brands of the vendors who celebrate our wins together. Is this kind of brand association a bad thing? No, not really, especially when the brand in question is that of VAST Data who is achieving unprecedented things in the storage industry. But. . . at Cambridge we take great pride in our ability to help our clients compare and contrast solutions from different vendors without bias. So, yeah, awards of this nature do muddy our brand a little. That said, VAST and Cambridge have done a lot of really exciting and ground-breaking projects together. You can read about them on VAST's web site without necessarily seeing the Cambridge logo in association. And, yes, the work we have done together in science and higher education is worthy of noise-making. So. . . thank you VAST for acknowledging that Cambridge is doing something special. And, I give you all an extra special thankyou for singling out Cambridge's contributions to research and higher ed. This is an underserved vertical that is curing disease and making the planet a better place. 🌝 If you read this far - - - - - Give me one of those GREEN CLAP likes if you agree that Cambridge really is impactful in our industry and goes beyond what is expected of typical channel sales organizations. If you have experienced our magic first hand, maybe treat me with a few sentences in a comment. All other likes and comments are, of course, greatly appreciated. My lizard brain gets excited every time the like counter increments.
