Thank you Steve Hoffman and Chester County Press for the great coverage on Camp Dreamcatcher. Become a Camp Dreamcatcher Superhero♥️ and make dreams come true for HIV/AIDS impacted youth.
What started off as a small group of people coming together over twenty-seven years ago with the dream of creating a therapeutic community for children coping with HIV/AIDS, has expanded to an organization that has served over 6,200 HIV/AIDS impacted youth. Over 260 counselors, medical personnel, professionals and community members help us make dreams come true each year for the campers. Our free therapeutic and educational programs include: a one-week summer camp session, HIV/AIDS Education and Community Outreach, HIV/AIDS & Diversity Counselor Training, Weekend Teen and Young Adult Leadership Retreats, Mentoring Programs, Restorative Practices Programs & Trainings, College Scholarship Program, and our Holiday Adopt-a-Family.

When I was riding on the ambulance at Llanerch Fire Company and STAT, I went to hospitals all over Southeastern Pennsylvania. I was in and out of Emergency Departments daily and learned that they aren't all the same. We frequently transported or flew our "sickest" patients to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. While dropping off patients at HUP, the nurses actively educated me (an EMT at the time) in the trauma bay, were exceedingly technically skilled, and even took me up on PennStar so I could learn more about Emergency care. I saw that the nurses at HUP were given respect by their peers and respected EMS crews like few other hospitals did. It was apparent to me from an early age that I wanted to work as a part of the team in the HUP Emergency Department as an Emergency Nurse. I'm proud to announce that I've been awarded the "HUP Emergency Nurse of the Year" for 2023 and cannot express my gratitude enough to the many people in my life that have supported me as I pursued my passion. My management team has assisted me in exploring the crossroad between Emergency Medicine and Emergency Management over the past few years and it's allowed me to connect with our local, state, and federal partners to enhance our emergency response. Most importantly, I've been able to focus on preparing the hospital through training so that we're there for our neighbors in need, which is what got me into working in Emergency Medicine in the first place, and it continues to keep me going. Sinead Donnelly also earned the Antoinette M Brook Professional Development Award for creating and improving opportunities for all individuals to realize their full potential as members of the department of Emergency Medicine! #joinhuphert #emergencymedicine #emergencymanagement #liveyourlifeswork
