We're honored to introduce you to Leverett, an amazing boy who is receiving integrative cancer care due to the generous donors that support Cancer Response Team's mission. Leverett's mother, Taylor, graciously shares a little about her son's battle: "Leverett is 2 years old and was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in September. He arrived to the hospital in heart failure and in need of multiple blood transfusions. Now that we are out of survival mode of the first really intense phase, I have the capacity to support him holistically alongside traditional treatment and having the support of the Cancer Response Team is such a blessing to be able to put funds toward holistic and integrative treatments that insurance never covers." Meet Vivian, an amazing young girl receiving integrative cancer care due to the generous donors that support Cancer Response Team's mission. Vivian's mother, Jessica, graciously shares her daughter's brave story with us: "On November 29th, 2022 we took our beautiful 9 year old daughter, Vivian, to the doctor for a flu virus she picked up at a sleepover. All of the other girls got better in a few days, but we were 3 weeks in and she still was not feeling well. The doctor felt she may have pneumonia and sent us to Centennial Children’s hospital for further x-rays. We were admitted and told she needed a couple of days of antibiotics, and they were going to do a CT scan “just to be safe”. Within 10 minutes, the head of oncology was in our room telling us that our beautiful and perfectly healthy baby girl had Lymphoma. He said we were being moved to the oncology floor, she would have a biopsy the next day and chemo would start that weekend. Our whole world was turned upside down in an instant. We navigated telling our 19- and 11-year-old sons that their sister had cancer and called our immediate family to deliver the news. When all of the testing was done, we were told Vivian had T Cell Lymphoma that - PRAISE THE LORD – had not spread past her chest. She did not have any cancer cells in her organs, bone marrow or spinal fluid. While this was great news, the treatment news that followed was another life altering blow. Our precious baby girl would have 2 years - AT MINIMUM - of chemo to treat her for this horrible disease. While her remission rate is well over 90% - the length of the treatment and severity of it would take its toll. The next 2 years of her childhood will be filled with chemo, medicines, hospital stays and sickness. Her world has been completely rocked. In March 2023, Vivian has had severe responses to chemo resulting in months long hospital admissions, chemo toxicity, time on a ventilator and having to learn to walk again. In May, we were told to call our family in to tell her goodbye and truly witnessed a miracle through the power of prayer as our sweet girl fought her way back to us. Vivian is now entering Maintenance after a three month pause on chemo and we are beginning the final stretch of her journey. We are still pressing into Jesus. prayer and believing our girl has beat this disease. She is currently in remission and has approx. 19 more months of chemo to go – if we do not have any more holds due to side effects. We continue to walk out this journey full of faith and expectant for what God will continue to do through this trial." Say hello to Jeshua, a brave young boy diagnosed with cancer who is receiving integrative cancer care due to the generous donors that support Cancer Response Team's mission. Jeshua's father was gracious enough to share his son's courageous story: "Jeshua Elyon is a 6 year old boy. He's a wonderful son and brother to his 6 other siblings. December 25, 2023 we had no choice other than to take Jeshua into ER after urgent care and pediatrician visits could not figure out what caused him pain. He was in so much pain he described it as "Top of the world pain". He was diagnosed with embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma stage 4 shortly thereafter. Rather than be defeated we chose to put God in control and held tight to each other. In our weakness, we were made strong. Chemotherapy ensued and we dove into all the ways a natural approach can help him to overcome. The Cancer Response Team was an example of God's love and how it comes rushing in, especially in our deepest time of need. We are eternally grateful for Cancer Response Team and everyone who reached out to help and gave us hope. We wouldn't be able to support him without your help. Forever Thankful!" Meet Kayne, an amazing young boy receiving integrative cancer care due to the generous donors that support Cancer Response Team's mission. Kayne's mother, Rayven, was gracious enough to share an update on her son's condition and brave road to recovery: "Kayne was diagnosed with bcell acute lymphoblastic leukemia on 9/17/2023. In his first month of treatment he got a staph infection in his port and was in pretty bad shape for a while. He had grade 3 neuropathy and on top of the infection and inflammation all over his body he couldn’t move at all for weeks without screaming and crying in pain. It got to the point where he wouldn’t move at all or talk. He was on a pain pump. He had to learn to walk again and we didn’t know if he’d fully recover from it. We lived in the hospital until the beginning of November, then transitioned to the Ronald McDonald house to stay close. He rocked physical therapy and is now playing and being his crazy self again. After getting into a program for functional medicine, we’ve seen a dramatic change in how he’s responded to treatment. It’s remarkable to see how well he’s been doing. He’s been able to eat, he hasn’t needed transfusions, and he’s been acting like the kid I knew before all this happened. Thank you for your help! It’s really good to see there are programs like yours that help people like us. We felt like sitting ducks the first couple of months and knowing that we could play a major role in his fight has been so empowering." Meet Connor, a courageous young boy diagnosed with neuroblastoma who is the recipient integrative cancer care due to the generous donors supporting Cancer Response Team's mission. Connor's family was gracious enough to reflect on all they've been through, showcasing their unwavering hope and gratitude: "Connor was diagnosed with stage iv high risk neuroblastoma on May 26, 2022 at 19 months old. We discovered it due to physical changes in his right eye, which prompted a CT scan. He just finished his 3rd round of chemo in an extensive treatment plan that is estimated to take a minimum of 18 months. He has two older brothers he adores and looks up to. He has been so strong and brave with everything he has had to go through, and we are so proud to be his parents. We have been humbled by the amount of love and support from family, friends and strangers. We are also so grateful for the numerous foundations who provide support in so many ways, including the Cancer Response Team." Meet Hadley, a brave young girl diagnosed with cancer who is receiving integrative cancer care due to the generous donors that support Cancer Response Team's mission. Hadley's mother was gracious enough to share Hadley's story of hope and resilience : "Right after Hadley's first birthday, her distended stomach started becoming much more noticeable. We, as her parents, thought we were doing such a good job feeding her! One night after a bath, I (mom) just knew something wasn't right. The next day, I took her to her pediatrician thinking she had gas from too many spinach cookies we make her! The second her pediatrician felt her stomach, she called for us to have an ultrasound right away. The second she mentioned a possible tumor, life changed in an instant. That same day, we got the ultrasound and were told to pack our bags and head to the children's hospital for a CT scan. From there, we didn't leave the hospital for 7 days. They found her 2.5 tumor on the CT scan and planned for surgery within the next 2 days. They removed the tumor as well as her right kidney and chemo started a few days after. Throughout her journey so far, Hadley has still learned to walk and still has the spunkiest personality. She may not eat what she used to, but her few foods she will eat... she definitely eats enough of them! We're so thankful for Cancer Response Team. I haven't figured out just how I'll use the help yet (I'm EXTREMELY indecisive and don't want to make the wrong choice!) but I became overwhelmed with how I lost all control of what was being put in her body once chemo started. So, knowing I can get the help to support her in a healthier way even after chemo ends makes me so excited." Please say hello to Skylar, an amazing young girl diagnosed with Neuroblastoma and a beneficiary of Cancer Reponse Team's support. Skylar's mother graciously shares her daughter's brave story with us: "Skylar was diagnosed with High Risk Neuroblastoma on October 30th, 2023; which was one month before her 5th birthday. Since her diagnosis she has undergone 7 rounds of chemotherapy, stem cell removal, surgery to remove the main tumor and 5 rounds of combined therapy of chemo and immunotherapy. In the last 10 months she has had to overcome many obstacles, received numerous procedures, very frequent lab draws and hospitalized a lot. She had a feeding tube for 7 months and was on twice daily lovenox shots for 6 months for a right atrium thrombus. The plan is to receive at least 3 more rounds of combined therapy and 12 days of radiation. Skylar has been very strong and brave through it all and is our little warrior. We are also consulting with an Integrative Oncologist to try to reduce Skylar‘s side effects, improve her quality of life, the effectiveness of treatment and her prognosis."
