"Like a lot of startups, different realizations have dawned on us over time. We knew that the ability to process salt and generate freshwater was a co-benefit from the outset, but what we didn't know is that there would be parties more motivated by that than CDR." - Luke Shors on the evolution of Capture6's technology Capture6 Co-Founder and President Dr. Luke Shors and Director of Development Daniela Hamann-Nazaroff, PE got to speak with Christopher Neidl and Tank Chen about our unique, water-positive direct air capture (DAC) technology. Chris and Tank led the conversation through a wide range of topics, including Capture6's origin story and our unique value propositions (both within and outside of the CDR market). Thank you so much to The OpenAir Collective for hosting us as they kick off their newest seasoon, and we can't wait to chat again in the future! 📺 If you missed the live talk, you can catch the recording below  ↓↓↓ #ClimateChange #Innovation #ThoughtLeadership

CDR companies remove carbon from the atmosphere. Then what? The end stage of most CDR processes is storage for the carbon we’ve removed. That carbon can take many forms. In our case, they’re carbonates. In chemistry, a carbonate is an ion consisting of one carbon and three oxygen atoms. In more simple terms, this is enables Carbon to be locked in a solid, stable form which traps it for 10-100,000+++ years. The MOST important thing about CDR storage is that it needs to be permanent. After all, what's the point of taking it out of the atmosphere if it can just as easily revert back? Scroll through this deck created by Capture6 storage expert Peter Laciano, M.S. to learn how we structure our storage strategy for maximum efficiency ↓ ↓ ↓ #CarbonRemoval #Storage #ClimateChange

At my daughter’s kindergarten open house this week, her teacher unveiled the theme for the year: Growth Over Time. “The important thing isn’t where you start or where you end up,” she told us. “What’s important is that you grow every day." In this same spirit of growth, I’m excited to share two milestones today: 1. We are renaming to Elemental Impact to mark our 15 year anniversary and our expansion to a broader investing platform, and 2. We are launching a $100M funding program and opening applications for entrepreneurs to access capital from the US EPA’s Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund. Read about why we're renaming, and our plans for this next chapter as we continue to support projects with deep community impact https://lnkd.in/g4KgYtCj I am so grateful to our team (check them out below... they were kindergarteners once too!), partners, and teachers -- and each and every one of YOU who has contributed to this journey 💚 One of my greatest teachers, the late Pono Shim, wrote me a note a few years ago about learning and the practice of aloha. He said: aloha and leadership aren’t something to know but rather something to struggle with. It is like a martial art: we learn a move and practice, learn a new move and practice, and practice and practice and practice until one day there are no more moves, only movement. This is our definition of Growth Over Time. Avra van der Zee, Melissa Uhl, Lauren Tonokawa, Mike Jackson, Ramsay Siegal, Austin Blackmon, Matt Logan, Brianna Rodrigues, Christina Angelides, Sara B. It’s a great day for Capture6. We are thrilled to announce that #Frontier has selected Capture6’s Project Wallaby for a pre-purchase by Stripe and Shopify. With this pre-purchase, Capture6 will join an elite group of carbon removal facilitators seeking to advance rapid decarbonization across industry. Capture6’s unique direct air capture and water recovery solution was evaluated and selected by Frontier’s global network of scientific experts over the course of several months. What do we bring to Frontier’s portfolio? 💲Capture6 projects valorize waste brines and convert a pure cost center into multiple forms of revenue. 🔓Our direct air capture technology integrates into existing energy transition projects to unlock new value, instead of operating in isolation. 📈 This integration allows us to recover freshwater, generate high-value green chemicals for sale and create operational and financial efficiencies for our water treatment facility partners.
