🌍💧Tackling water scarcity in the face of climate change. Our Deputy CEO, Erina Caramondani, participated in an insightful panel discussion on this critical issue, which not only affects our island but is also a global challenge. The event brought together experts from academia, government, industry, and citizens to explore the threats, challenges, and solutions in water management amid climate change. We discussed infrastructure development and collaborative approaches driving innovation and sustainability in water management, emphasizing the role of policy, research, and community engagement. A big thank you to Chrysalis LEAP and InnoEUsphere for organizing and hosting this vital discussion. Let’s continue forging synergies to tackle this global challenge together! #WaterScarcity #Sustainability #Collaboration #WaterManagement #InnovationInWaterManagement
Coordinating today’s panel was more than insightful. I had the joy to welcome water management and #blue #economy experts from the quadruple helix: industry, academia, government, and citizens. Our topic of discussion focused on #climate #change, and its effects on water 💦 #scarcity - a global emergency and a deeply rooted challenge in our island. The discussions were deep, showcasing practical examples of how collaboration drives or has the potential to drive the generation of real solutions in #Cyprus. I personally learned a lot. Our pioneering position as an island into adopting water management techiques, like dessalination, the government’s collaboration with leading centres of excellence and universities into adopting critical infrastructure on water management and preservation, the collaboration of public-private sectors which bring about meaningful and competitive partnerships, the powerful dynamic of grassroots initiatives into influencing our common behaviour towards water management and protection and finally, the deep research done at academia level, plus the series of astonishing #EU #funded projects running by Cypriot universities and researchers related to water management and the blue economy, are really assets that we as Cypriots can brag about! We are doing well, we can do better, but let’s give finally some light to our COMMON accomplishments. We are strong and if we find a communication shortcut in the various initiatives reinforcing synergies, we can achieve so much more! Thank you: Evripides Kyriakides Erina Caramondani Adriana Bruggeman Michael Loizides As part of the #eufunded Blue Ecosystem Project, Interreg EuroMed, and hosted by Chrysalis LEAP we at InnoEUsphere brought our hands-on, participatory techniques to the table, solidifying our role as facilitators of impactful, solution-driven events. Thank you to everyone who made this day exceptional and a big appreciation for having us. Stelios Procopiou Kyriaki Kyprianou Alexandros Charalambides

🌍 Cooperating for the Sustainable Future of Cyprus 🌊 Last week, a pivotal meeting was held at the Home for Cooperation in Nicosia's Buffer Zone, to discuss the creation of a Bi-Communal Water Board for Cyprus. The aim? To find innovative solutions to the island’s ongoing water scarcity crisis. This gathering brought together an inspiring group of professionals, including Prof. Frithjof Kuepper, Leo van Gelder, Danae Pantelides, Katie Clerides, Burcu Barin, Ibrahim Alkan, and our own Olga Villa Sallangos, each contributing their unique expertise to support cross-community collaboration. Key Outcomes: 🔹Student Exchange Program: Fostering the next generation of leaders in water management through cross-community educational initiatives. 🔹Exchange of Technical Expertise: Facilitating knowledge-sharing via seminars and workshops to strengthen local water management practices. 🔹Engagement with UNFICYP: Partnering with UNFICYP to bolster joint efforts in addressing water-related challenges. 🔹Mia Milia / Haspolat Water Plant Exploration: Investigating the potential of utilizing water from the Mia Milia / Haspolat Plant for irrigation, aiming to mitigate the current shortage. This meeting demonstrates the power of dialogue and cooperation in overcoming shared challenges. Together, we can build a sustainable and water-secure future for Cyprus.💧 www.caramondani.com #Sustainability #WaterManagement #Cyprus #BiCommunalEfforts #EnvironmentalSolutions

DDP Engineering Team Visits Bicommunal WWTP! 🌍💧 Our engineers from the Dhekelia Desalination Plant recently toured the Bicommunal Waste-Water Treatment Plant (WWTP) in Mia Milia / Haspolat, in occupied Nicosia. Built and operated by German firm WTE, this WWTP treats 30,000m³/d of wastewater, serving both Greek and Turkish Cypriot communities. Funded by the Sewerage Board of Nicosia and the EU, the project was executed by the UNDP-PFF. The WWTP uses membrane bioreactors to produce high-quality water, which, unfortunately, isn't used for irrigation despite water scarcity issues. This plant represents a unique opportunity to promote bicommunal activities, water reuse, and electricity generation, contributing to a unified Nicosia. We extend special thanks to Marek Reib and Anna Lopez WTE Wassertechnik GmbH for making this visit possible. 🙏 www.caramondani.com #DhekeliaDesalinationPlant #WWTP #Nicosia #BiCommunal #WaterReuse #UNDP #SewerageBoardNicosia #EU
