🌍 Decarbonising Heavy Industry: Carbo Culture’s Green Transition Solutions for Steel At Carbo Culture, we believe tackling climate change requires bold action on two fronts: scaling carbon removal and decarbonising hard-to-abate industries. Today, we’re proud to announce our strategic expansion into green steel, a sector crucial to reducing global emissions. 🔧 Why Steel? Steel production accounts for 7-9% of global CO₂ emissions, and Electric Arc Furnaces (EAFs) are pivotal in this green transformation. But there’s a need for sustainable alternatives to fossil carbon. Enter Carbo Culture biochar, a cleaner, high-quality replacement for coke in EAFs and Blast Furnaces, capable of reducing up to 85% of EAF emissions. 🔗 Every ton of our biochar used in metallurgy can cut 3+ tons of CO₂ emissions, enabling steelmakers to meet stricter EU ETS regulations and reduce carbon tax exposure. Let’s reshape the future of heavy industries together. Please read the full announcement: https://lnkd.in/dRWcGGJt 📩 Interested in exploring collaboration? Environmental Services
We are a climate technology company building a rapidly scalable biochar carbon removal solution.
About us
Plants draw down CO2 from the atmosphere via photosynthesis and solar power at unbeatable efficiency. We take waste biomass and transform it using our patented reactors, permanently storing the carbon in an inert, solid form called biochar. Our unique process produces high-quality biochar for agricultural and construction applications, generates renewable energy, and creates some of the most tangible carbon credits on the market.

This week, the Negative Emissions Platform Members have gathered in Brussels for a series of discussions with EU policymakers. Over three days, NEP held meetings with influential figures in the European Commission, Parliament, and Council, who are instrumental in shaping the EU's approach to carbon removal (CDR). We highlighted key steps to strengthen Europe’s role in CDR and climate leadership: ♾️ The importance of separate targets for permanent CDR in the revision of the EU Climate Law ♾️ The need for immediate public and private funding to support the sector and begin scaling up ♾️ A call for a compliance market for CDR to drive meaningful action The message is clear: ❗ the time for action is now❗ Without decisive steps, the EU risks falling short of its climate targets and losing the chance to foster a thriving European CDR industry. For a deeper dive into our key positions, please read NEP's paper on how carbon removals can bolster EU competitiveness: 🌐 https://lnkd.in/dU589qSG Thank you, Heirloom, Climeworks, Stockholm Exergi, Drax Group, Carbon Engineering, Rewind, neustark, Bioenergy Europe, Ørsted, Novocarbo, Carbo Culture, Carbonfuture, Isometric, Dansk Fjernvarme

🇪🇺 A call for supporting carbon removals in the next EU mandate 🇪🇺 Together with 44 other organisations, Carbo Culture has written to Climate Commissioner-designate Wopke Hoekstra ahead of his confirmation hearing in the European Parliament urging him to adopt a set of policies to support a sustainable scale-up of carbon dioxide removal (CDR) in the next EU mandate. Here are our 4 key recommendations: 1. Set separate targets for emissions reductions and carbon removals in the revision of the Climate Law 2. Boost CDR funding to scale up both early- and later-stage technologies 3. Provide clarity for buyers of CDR in the Green Claims Directive, strengthening the integrity of climate claims 4. Create stable demand for carbon removals through a compliance market and long-term policy support Carbon removals are vital for reaching net zero. With the new European Commission being formed, this is a pivotal moment to ensure carbon removals become a pillar in Europe’s fight against climate change.
