Read about CarbonQuest in Axios! Alan Neuhauser reported on the close of our $20 million funding round, highlighting how our distributed carbon capture™ technology decarbonizes “hard-to-abate” facilities. Alan explains, “CarbonQuest builds and sells modular systems that trap the emissions generated by natural gas heating systems and energy infrastructure, such as on-site power generators used by many data centers.” We’re excited to leverage this capital to deploy our technology in new applications across the United States. As electricity demand continues to rise, grid operators are also facing the challenge of retiring onsite power generation systems like combined heat and power (CHP). In fact, 54,700 MW of CHP capacity across 36 states is at risk of retirement, putting additional strain on grid stability if these systems aren’t modernized or repowered. CarbonQuest sees CHP systems as critical to the reliability of power supply in the U.S. Combining CHP with CarnbonQuest's distributed carbon capture™ technology reduces CO2 emissions in those systems, while ensuring reliable onsite power. We believe there should be increased investment to grow CHP capacity in the U.S. and expand its use across multiple market segments. CarbonQuest is proud to stand with over 160 organizations in urging Congress to uphold the federal 45Q tax credit for carbon capture. This tax credit will help the industry scale faster and move more complex, hard-to-abate projects off the ground. We also believe that some of the new exciting pathways to use CO2, such as alternatives in plastic production and jet fuel, should have parity in the tax code with the CO2 sequestration tax credit. We are following closely and hopeful that the program will get started soon. Read the full letter below.

At the #CHPSummit2024, our SVP of Strategy, Market Development, and Sustainability spoke about how cogeneration systems, combined with #carboncapture, can decarbonize hard-to-abate facilities like manufacturing sites and data centers. “When a data center or an energy system comes in and needs additional power, we can put CHP onsite or in a cluster. We can put them on local council land or city land, and then we can do carbon capture and sometimes we can even locally sequester the CO2, meaning putting it in the ground and it will be gone forever. All of this can be completely local and provide reliable power.” - Anna Pavlova Watch below!

The Seattle Times’ Conrad Swanson highlights CarbonQuest as a leading #carboncapture company decarbonizing the most hard-to-abate facilities across the U.S. In his article that explores the differences between carbon capture and removal, Conrad explains how our systems can reduce over 90% of emissions generated by boilers, fuel cells, and other distributed generation power systems. “Think of a smokestack, said Shane Johnson, president and CEO of the Spokane-based CarbonQuest. The company’s technology attaches to the side of that stack, drawing in emissions and using a chemical process to effectively absorb carbon dioxide. The mechanism then churns the remaining (cleaner) emissions back into the smokestack and, ultimately, out into the atmosphere.” Thanks for featuring us! https://lnkd.in/e2qeEbYY

CarbonQuest Chairman Dave Curry shared an overview of our distributed #carboncapture technology on Seattle's NBC affiliate, KING 5 Media Group. He highlighted how our solution is essential for decarbonizing “hard-to-abate” sectors, especially in regions where facilities like data centers are significantly increasing power demand. Dave also explained why the Pacific Northwest is an ideal region for carbon sequestration, stating, “In the Pacific Northwest in particular, Washington, Oregon, into Canada, it’s a goldmine of opportunities for CO2 sequestration geologically.” Check out the full segment by Leah Pezzetti here.
