Lower levels of kindergarten readiness are associated with poorer academic outcomes from elementary to high school." In Montgomery County, how kindergarten ready are our little ones We still need to recover from the impact of the pandemic, and we need to work to reduce the gap in readiness for our black and brown communities. Our Jump Start with the Arts program is designed to help pre-schoolers get ready for kindergarten and be set on a path of success in learning. Our goal this Giving Tuesday is to raise $40,000. • After a rigorous application and selection process, Carpe Diem Arts has been successfully chosen to be a partner organization of Spur Local, formerly known as Catalogue for Philanthropy. Spur Local says, "All nonprofit partners are chosen by residents who live or work in the Greater Washington region. As part of our annual review process, these 170+ volunteers look beyond the traditional metrics of evaluation and address questions that people don’t always think to ask or have the time to assess. What need is a nonprofit meeting? Are its finances sound? What impact does it make on our local communities, and how does it involve communities in their work? Through this democratic decision-making process, we then determine the critical local nonprofits that join our network, and enter a four-year partnership with us."
