Spotlight on Quynh Nguyen: 2024 CAS Trust Scholarship recipient! Quynh recently graduated magna cum laude from the University of St. Thomas, where she was studying Actuarial Science. During her time there, she actively contributed to the insurance student community through her involvement with the IN2Risk Conference, RISE Professional Student Committee, and the CPCU Student Committee.  After two outstanding internships at Voya Financial, Quynh will soon be joining the company full-time as an Actuarial Assistant. She also gained valuable experience as an underwriting intern at RLI Corp during the summer of 2023. We are incredibly proud to celebrate Quynh’s achievements and wish her all the best as she continues her actuarial career! Spotlight on Katie Johnson: 2024 CAS Trust Scholarship recipient! Katie is a senior at Illinois State University, where she is studying Actuarial Science with minors in Computer Science and Spanish. She currently serves as the president of her university’s Actuarial Club and is also an active member of the executive board for Gamma Iota Sigma. Following a successful summer internship at Travelers as part of the Actuarial Leadership Development Program, Katie will begin a full-time role there after she graduates. Her experience also includes an internship in Switzerland through the Katie School of Insurance and a summer 2023 internship at Zurich Insurance, where she focused on workers’ compensation pricing. We are proud to celebrate Katie’s achievements and wish her all the best as she finishes her studies and continues her actuarial career! Spotlight on Bren Hutchinson: 2024 CAS Trust Scholarship recipient! Bren is a senior at Louisiana State University, where they are pursuing dual degrees in Mathematics in Actuarial Science and Interdisciplinary Studies in Statistics, Computer Science, and Business. Bren is also the co-president of the Actuarial Student Association at their university. This past summer, Bren interned with Edgewater Actuarial Insights, LLC. They also spent the 2023-2024 academic year as an intern at Louisiana’s Workers’ Compensation Corporation, and the prior summer conducting research in swarm intelligence. We are proud to celebrate Bren’s achievements and wish them all the best as they finish their studies and continue in their actuarial career! Spotlight on Austin Do: 2024 CAS Trust Scholarship recipient! Austin is a fourth-year student at Western University, where he is studying Actuarial Science. While there, he has held leadership positions on both the Actuarial Students’ National Association and Wester University’s Actuarial and Statistical Undergrad Association. Austin spent this past summer working as an Actuarial Analyst Intern at Intact, helping to develop machine learning solutions to segment and rate commercial insurance products. He has also interned at Echelon Insurance with their Personal Lines Auto Pricing Team. We are proud to celebrate Austin’s achievements and wish him all the best as he finishes his studies! Spotlight on Thu Hai Nguyen: 2024 CAS Trust Scholarship recipient! Thu is a senior at the National Economics University (NEU) Vietnam, where she is studying Actuarial Science and Risk Management. She also recently attended the CAS Annual Meeting in Phoenix where she was recognized for her achievement as one of the $5,000 CAS Trust Scholarship recipients. Alongside her studies, Thu currently works as a Research Assistant at the prestigious ORLab, focusing on machine learning applications in reserving techniques and portfolio optimization. She also spent an impressive summer interning at Decent Actuarial Consultants Co. We are proud to celebrate Thu’s accomplishments and wish her all the best as she finishes her studies! The Student Actuaries at Michigan, an actuarial science club at the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor, recently hosted an interactive “Intro to the CAS Workshop.” A special thank-you to CAS University Liaison Zach Johnson, FCAS, for generously sharing his time and expertise. During his presentation, Zach introduced students to key concepts of the P&C actuarial field and facilitated multiple lively Q&A sessions, sparking insightful discussions.  To top it off, the workshop concluded with a P&C-themed cookie decorating contest, adding a fun and creative twist to the event! We are also grateful to our CAS Student Ambassadors, Katherine Bednarz and Valerie Caldwell, for their outstanding work organizing this event. 

Spotlight on Srikar Sunil: 2024 CAS Trust Scholarship recipient! Srikar is a senior at Penn State University, where he is studying Actuarial Science with a minor in Statistics. He will also be joining Gallagher Re as a full-time Actuarial Analyst once he graduates. Srikar spent the past summer interning in Actuarial Advisory Services at EY, and has an impressive track record of previous internships at CVS Health, Erie Insurance Group, Liberty Mutual Insurance, and Milliman. He currently serves as the president of the Penn State Actuarial Club, having worked on the board in several different positions in the past. We are proud to celebrate Srikar’s achievements and wish him all the best as he continues his actuarial career! The Actuarial Student Association of The University of Texas at Dallas recently hosted a CAS learning workshop! University Liaisons Sam Mullick, ACAS, MAAA, and Dalesa Bady, ACAS, shared insights into their careers, highlighted resources offered by the CAS, and gave an in-depth presentation on reserving methods. Following the workshop, students had the opportunity to network with each other and our liaisons, fostering meaningful discussions and connections. Special thanks to our CAS Student Ambassadors, Matthew Bidwell and Thomas Bobincheck, for organizing this event, and to our liaisons for generously volunteering their time and expertise!
