Another Caster Communications All Team in the books! Caster started the All Team tradition in 2015 when Erin Phillips joined our group. Erin was remote and we would plan annual meetings to bring everyone together and discuss how we as an agency grow, review what we had learned that year, lay plans for the year ahead, brainstorm ideas, and problem solve for our challenges. And, of course, we would always have our Rose-Bud-Thorn session to assess where we bloomed, what shows promise and what might be a pain point that we can get over. We always gain fresh insights and have dozens of new ideas, all while connecting and building new memories. We finish the festivities with our annual Holiday Party and Favortie Thing of the Year gift exchange which is always a hoot paired with an incredible tasting menu and delightful wines and cocktails. We also received our certificate (and t-shirts) for our support, sponsorship, and volunteer work with Animal Rescue Rhode Island. 🐕 #PRagency #iworkinPR #techPR #marketingteam #PR #volunteer #workhardplayhard
If you're ever interested in the type of news the Caster team consumes on a daily basis, our SVP, Peter Girard has shared an excellent example. Below, you can find his thoughts on both the state of the smart home and his answer to the question posed by the article headline. Do you agree? Or disagree?
Short answer, no, the smart home is not getting "too smart". While recent advancements in health and wellness tech are impressive, many of the solutions highlighted in articles like the one below from The Hollywood Reporter feel more like niche luxury than "smart home for the masses." The real magic of smart home technology—and where AI is making the most tangible difference—is in the basics: 💡 Lighting 🌡️ Climate control ⚡ Energy monitoring 🔗 Automations that seamlessly tie these elements together These innovations don’t require a dedicated biohacking room or a massive investment. Instead, they focus on enhancing everyday life for users in ways that are simple, accessible, and impactful. With the AI-powered smart home on the horizon, the "what's possible" in terms of the connected home is going to explode with possibilities. Does the smart home have an image problem? Is the industry focusing enough on making these technologies accessible to all? Or do takes like this one make the average consumer feel like smart home is out of reach? In celebration of Communications Week, presented by Ragan Communications and PR Daily, the University of Rhode Island's Harrington School of Communication and Media hosted an inspiring Speed Mentoring event. Always excited to return to her alma mater, Senior Account Executive Lexie Gardiner joined the event's alumni roster to meet current students pursuing majors in public relations, communication studies, journalism, and more. From sharing insights into her daily responsibilities to offering resume tips and encouraging their passion for the ever-evolving communications field, the experience was as rewarding as it was energizing. Special thanks to Regina Bell, Dan Hunt, University of Rhode Island PRSSA and the Harrington School students for another great event! 👏 #CommsWeek #URIAlumni #PR #publicrelations #networking #mentoring #communications #communicationstudies
Don't panic but, did you know that we're officially 60 days out from #CES2025? In our latest blog, our SVP Peter Girard has an urgent PSA to share: if you're hoping to have an impactful CES show, all that planning needs to begin now. Why does early planning matter? Has your company been considering starting a TikTok account or investing more resources in Instagram reels? Before you budget, check out this recent report in Ragan Communications and PR Daily. These two pieces of data caught our attention: 👉B2B videos received the lowest engagement of any category, and by a sizable margin: B2B videos averaged 2.4% engagement rate, while the next-lowest category, fashion, notched 3.2%. 👉On Instagram B2B organizations placed dead last in the number of followers averaging just 418,000 – and the engagement rate is a paltry 0.2%, So, in other words, people are watching B2B content, but generally not taking action based on it. Check out the full article to assess if short-form videos are really the best use of your resources. #B2Bmarketing #B2B #digitalmarketing #socialmedia
