About us
Established in 2019, the Catalytic Capital Consortium (C3) is an investment, learning, and market development initiative created and led by the MacArthur Foundation, The Rockefeller Foundation and the Omidyar Network. These three Strategic Partners aim to promote greater and more effective use of catalytic capital, in recognition of its essential role in realizing the full potential of the impact investing field, including in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
Working to increase the knowledge, awareness and use of catalytic capital, the aim of the C3 Grantmaking program is to demonstrate the power of catalytic capital as synergistic with other forms of investing across the full continuum of capital (including commercial rates of return) to safeguard the environment, support those most in need, and ultimately enable a more just, inclusive and resilient world.

The CatalyticCapitalConsortium (C3) is launching a new chapter of field-building work to promote greater and more effective use of #catalyticcapital! Building on its learnings over four years and leveraging the support it has received from the field, the C3 initiative will extend its efforts, working with six new philanthropic partners beginning in 2025 to broaden and deepen the global community of practice for #catalyticcapital and to accelerate the flow of this vital form of #impactinvesting so that impact funds, organizations, and enterprises can fuel progress on the UN Sustainable Development Goals. MacArthur Foundation, one of C3’s founders, will continue to help support and lead these efforts, and it will be joined by C3’s new partners: Blue Haven Initiative, Builders Vision, Ceniarth, The Lemelson Foundation, Small Foundation, and Walton Family Foundation.
