Honoring the bond between animals, humans and the environment, we're creating a kinder and gentler world for all
About us
We are a Connecticut-based nonprofit organization working to promote compassion and healing through human-animal connection, founded in 2013 to commemorate and honor the life of Catherine Violet Hubbard, a six-year-old victim of the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy. Catherine always said that one day she would care for animals and that nurturing them was her passion. If she were with us today, there is no doubt she would have realized her dream to work with and care for animals. In 2014, the Catherine Violet Hubbard Foundation was awarded over 34 acres of state farmland by a unanimous vote from the Connecticut State House of Representatives and Senate, which would become home to the Catherine Violet Hubbard Sanctuary. The sanctuary pays tribute to Catherine and her spirit of kindness towards all living things by honoring the bond between humans, animals and the environment.

Sometimes help to the sanctuary comes in the most unexpected and beautiful ways. After hearing about our need for a new printer, UBEO Business Services - formerly COECO Office Systems, generously donated a Ricoh printer to our office. Angelo Avallone, Major Account Executive, extended this kindness to us after we reached out for a price quote. Then, Shelly Hightower (in photo) stepped in to provide us with all the training we needed. From the technicians that installed the machine, to the quality of the printer and the kindness of the company and employees, we could not be more thankful 💜🖨💜 #ourstoryofkindness #sanctuary #UBEO

Happy National Philanthropy Day! As construction of Catherine's Learning Barn is underway, we wanted to share a moment of gratitude for our build supporters. Bringing their own expertise, time and commitment to this project has made all the difference in bringing our new educational facility to life. And more are joining every day! This week, North Country Landscaping in Newtown joined the team, generously donating and spreading all the hydro seeding this spring once the building is complete. There are so many ways to get involved in large and small ways. To learn more, visit us at: https://lnkd.in/etXdqvRn or email us directly at info@cvhfoundation.org. COUNTRY CARPENTERS INC. Right on schedule, the sanctuary's 12,000sf of Ecotype project perennials are cut back and prepped for the winter ahead. Thank you to the hardworking folks of RX Global North America for dedicating their corporate day of caring to us! Mother Nature was happy to lend a hand with mild temperatures and clear skies, making this crew's job a day to remember. #volunteers #sanctuary #wildlife #bekind #love

Our friends at @choicepet have been beside us every step of the way with pet food support and sponsoring the annual Catherine's Butterfly Party! Now, we're so grateful for their recent kindness....a plethora of doggy sweaters, collars, leashes and other supplies that will go to animals in need AND help us raise funds through our upcoming holiday shop. Thank you, Choice Pet! #seniorpawproject #seniorpaw #senioranimals #petsarefamily #seniorpetowners

We love Fridays...do you know why? Because every week, this is the day we'll be sharing exciting updates and details about the building of Catherine's Learning Barn - the sanctuary's new educational facility! And as we look ahead, we thought it important to also look back. You see, the site of Catherine’s Learning Barn was once home to a very old and dilapidated farmhouse. Covered in vines, littered with garbage and tagged with graffiti, the old structure was an eye sore and a safety hazard. Catherine’s Learning Barn not only repurposes the space but beautifies it with new life and radiance. Join us here every Friday as we share ALL the build updates. We are so excited to share a HUGE announcement with our LinkedIn community - we have officially started construction on the sanctuary's educational facility - CATHERINE'S LEARNING BARN!! The 3,400 square foot facility will serve as an educational space designed to host field trips, workshops, classes, and hands-on learning experiences focused on teaching individuals how to care for animals. The project is the first step towards the main building, allowing an expansion of programming and services while preparing for the bigger construction project. We are thrilled to share that Catherine’s Learning Barn will be completed spring of 2025. Join us here every Friday as we share ALL the build updates. We're tucking in the sanctuary for the season thanks to a Day of Caring from our friends at US Probations Pretrial! Together, they cut back our Ecotype Project Perennial Pollinator Garden, making sure to leave stems nice and long for overwintering insects. A praying mantis even stopped by to say "thank you!". All hands on deck! Today, Boehringer Ingelheim dedicated a day of caring to the sanctuary and their timing couldn't have been better. They loaded our rental truck with supplies for this Sunday's RACE FOR CATHERINE and even had a little energy after for a tour of the sanctuary. Thank you, Boehringer!
