Is "college and career readiness" enough? How can we measure K-12 success? Measurement for Mobility, a new report from Education Strategy Group and American Student Assistance, digs into how all 50 states are measuring and prioritizing long-term outcomes — namely, postsecondary and workforce success — by including them in their funding and accountability systems. The report looks across all 50 states to understand how they are (or are not) using postsecondary and workforce metrics in both their K-12 and higher education systems. 🔎 Access the Report: https://lnkd.in/gsF75byJ #Accountability #EconomicSuccess #DataDriven

Community College Research Center recently published a new report titled "The Postsecondary Outcomes of High School Dual Enrollment Students: A National and State-by-State Analysis." Given previous research indicating that low-income, Black, and Hispanic high school students are severely underrepresented in #DualEnrollment coursework, the authors further disaggregate results for these subgroups to highlight the potential for dual enrollment to strengthen high-school-to-college-and-career transitions and increase equity for underserved communities. Key Findings: 📈 High school dual enrollment is widespread and growing across states; it is especially prevalent at community colleges. 🎓 Dual enrollment students have strong postsecondary outcomes after high school, particularly in some states. 📊 Low-income, Black, and Hispanic students are underrepresented in dual enrollment and have lower average award completion rates than dual enrollment students overall. However, low-income, Black, and Hispanic dual enrollees’ award completion rates are stronger than that of non-dual enrollees. 💲 High school students who take dual enrollment courses at a four-year institution do particularly well in college but are not as diverse as other dual enrollment students in terms of race/ethnicity and neighborhood income. 🧑🎓 For community colleges, former dual enrollment students are a strong source of post-high-school enrollments. 🔗 Download the report: https://lnkd.in/etDPeEH3 #Equity #PostsecondaryOutcomes #CareerReadiness

❓How will the new Ability-to-Benefit guidelines impact students and career pathway programs? Starting July 1, 2024, new "Ability to Benefit" regulations will provide alternative routes to financial aid for students without high school diplomas to access postsecondary education. This isn't just a policy change—it's a commitment to educational equity. The U.S. Department of Education has released updated guidance to help students access federal financial aid through Ability-to-Benefit (ATB) programs. This clarification streamlines the process for students without a high school diploma who are enrolled in eligible career pathway programs. 🔗 Learn more about the changes and how they can benefit ALL learners. https://lnkd.in/gzsfj5ny #CareerPathways #HigherEd #WorkforceDevelopment #FinancialAid #StudentSuccess
Adult learners without a high school diploma or equivalent can qualify for federal student aid through one of three #AbilityToBenefit (ATB) options. The majority of public institutions utilize the credit hour option, where learners must complete at least 6 credit hours (or 225 clock hours) applicable toward a Title IV-eligible degree or certificate in order to qualify for ATB. Over the years, states and institutions have developed innovative ways to cover the costs of these first six credits for learners, including state financial aid programs and set-asides from tuition increases. The A2B4Equity pilot project, led by Corporation for a Skilled Workforce (CSW), examined how institutions might use college promise funding to cover the cost of the six credits and increase learner eligibility for federal student aid. Participating colleges included the City Colleges of Chicago’s Daley and Truman Colleges and Mott Community College and Wayne County Community College District in Michigan. World Education’s National College Transition Network provided technical assistance on ATB implementation. Did you miss the webinar on A2B4Equity on July 10th?
