Exciting update! 🌍💧 Remember when Beka and the Engineers Without Borders team traveled to Ecuador to help bring clean water to a community in need? After a year of planning and design, we're thrilled to share what’s been accomplished! The team of four from the Indianapolis Professional Chapter, along with two engineers from EWB Quito, returned to a native community near Riobamba, Ecuador. In just five days, they installed two pressure-reducing valves with masonry access tanks, and provided new connections to the main distribution line for 39 homes, upgrading their pipes. Now, the community's upgraded water system is fully functional, ensuring proper pressure for all homes. Best of all, they can focus on their harvest instead of constant water system repairs! Riley Sears is currently in San Diego for the 2024 Autodesk Conference, where he's networking with fellow professionals to explore ways to enhance efficiency in Revit. It's been an exciting and eventful month for us! We kicked things off go-karting with our summer interns, Jonah and Josh. Then, our team won both the People's Choice and Best Original Design at CANstruction 2024. Next, we gathered for the CE Solutions family summer party at the Walden Estated, hosted by Carrie and her family. We also had the opportunity to revisit one of CE Solutions' earliest projects at the Linden House (old Christel DeHaan house), now RH. To top it off, we welcomed a group of 7th and 8th graders from the Dream Alive Foundation (a group formed by former Colts player Tarik Glenn to help guide students to a career). We were able to give them an inside look at the world of engineering, with a special focus on structural engineering. Whew! Yesterday was a lot of fun! Our annual CANstruction Build Day was held at the Indiana State Fairgrounds and sponsored by SMPS Indiana Chapter . The theme for the fair is, "The Art and Nature of Fun." We decided to play on that theme with the famous pink elephant located in Fortville, IN. When the fair opens, please make sure you go out and vote for your favorite (in the Ag-Hort Building in the very back). It was a fun team with RQAW | DCCM, Applied Engineering Services, Charles C. Brandt Construction Co., SMEUSA, and Kimley-Horn. Congrats to the rest of the teams as well - all the cans are donated to Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana Inc. at the end of the fair (which also happens to be their largest can drive).
