Updates

  • Here is a pic of one the very first active assailant response training classes ever held the country. We are certain its the first in Michigan (1999 as we recall). Ron Buckley (Westland PD) is on the point, Dave White (Garden City PD) and Darrel Rize (Wayne PD) on the flanks. We are very proud that our little company played a role in changing how the profession responds to murders. www.cenetrmassinc.com

  • Thank you to the Michigan Professional Sniper Consortium for training at Center Mass on Dec. 11, 2024 and for the beautiful plaque. You invaded CMI with roughly 35 law enforcement snipers from throughout the state. It was truly our pleasure to be of assistance and we can't thank you enough for what you do to help make sure police snipers are sharing information, helping each other and getting the best training possible. Merry Christmas to all you snipers out there!

  • WHAT’S THE AVERAGE DISTANCE OF THE LAW ENFORCEMENT PATROL RIFLE® ENGAGEMENT? Are we basing our training, equipment and policies on our assumptions?   As a profession, we simply don’t know the cumulative answers about our officer involved patrol rifle® shootings. Yes, you might have some data about your agency’s engagements, but how does that benefit the profession as a whole? Imagine how a larger sampling of patrol rifle® specific, officer involved shooting statistics, would benefit our entire profession.   If you have doubts about this assertion, I will ask you to look at the results of the American Sniper Association’s, Police Sniper Utilization Report. This research project started with collecting individual sniper involved shooting surveys in 2002/03/04 and was first published as a cumulative report in 2005. It debunked all kinds of police sniper assumptions that many thought to be facts from various sources, instructors, and sniper schools. This report has since been updated every two years as more surveys come in. It is now used by many SWAT teams and their sniper units as an independent guide in their training, equipment selection, and policies.    For instance, what is your agency’s policy for patrol rifle® zeroing? Do you do it at 100 yards, 50 yards, or some other distance? How will you justify your policy when it’s questioned in court? At the National Patrol Rifle® Championships, we have nominations for the  Chudwin Patrol Rifle® Excellence Award ranging from 2 yards, to 326 yards. Imagine now how you might use a future Patrol Rifle® Utilization Report to independently help justify your agency’s operations in court, or even to your politicians at budget time.      Statistically, there are far more LEO patrol rifle® shootings than there are police sniper shootings. Based on that fact, those who will immediately benefit the most from a bi-annual Patrol Rifle® Utilization Report will be the ones who are in the fight every single day, the patrol officers. They will benefit because their agency’s administrators and instructors will be better informed with facts, not assumptions. These facts help will improve and guide better training, equipment selection, and policies, which could save lives. Please consider sharing the basic statistical data about your agency’s patrol rifle® engagements by filling out a Patrol Rifle® Utilization Survey. It will take less than 5-minutes and your profession will be better off for your effort. For more information on the Patrol Rifle® Utilization Survey or to fill out a survey, please go to https://lnkd.in/e4e64zpj Respectfully, Ofc. Jeff Felts (ret.)
