Gartner Research estimates that governments worldwide are expected to spend $800 billion on technology in 2024, but at what cost? Co-Develop CEO, CV Madhukar, highlights that the current model of siloed digitization risks putting many nations into long-term debt, especially the 160 countries representing 5.5 billion people who might need help to keep up. #CentreforDigitalPublicInfrastructure has signed a three-year letter of Intent with the #Inter-AmericanNetworkofDigitalGovernment, #RedGEALC to strengthen #DPI across Latin America and the Caribbean. Under this agreement, #CDPI will deliver pro-bono advisory services to #GEALC member countries, focusing on capacity-building workshops, #DPI pilots, and expert support in areas like #AI, cybersecurity, and data governance. This collaboration reflects the commitment to inclusive governance, economic growth, and open-source digital solutions, all provided on a pro bono basis. Earlier this year, the #DPIMap was hosted and launched at UCL as an invaluable tool for researchers, policymakers, and builders of #DigitalPublicInfrastructure. Built using data from 132 countries, this interactive map offers insights into global #DPI deployments, measurement frameworks, and best practices just as the world recognizes the transformative potential of DPI in achieving the #SustainableDevelopmentGoals (#SDGs). With over 50 national governments committing to #DPI development, the map emphasises the role of core systems like #DigitalIdentity, payment systems, and #DataExchanges. It also highlights, the #GlobalSouth is outpacing the #GlobalNorth in #DPI adoption, offering lessons on innovation, governance, and inclusivity.
