𝗠𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵 - 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 #𝟱 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥𝙨 - 2 - 𝘾𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙪𝙧𝙮.𝙏𝙚𝙘𝙝 It seems only yesterday that I sat in a ResearchEd conference session listening to Alice Little from CENTURY Tech describing the behavioural psychology and cognitive psychology elements that underpinned their platform. But that was 2018. When I came to WM College to manage our Multiply project the last thing I expected to need in my toolkit was a cutting-edge maths learning platform. I thought it was back to paper, pens and mini whiteboards for me, with a heavy pilot bag full of manipulatives; bussing and tubing it from one community centre to the next primary school hall. However... ...it wasn't long before it became clear that we needed some individualised learning software, once Multiply students came into the college environment with different strengths, different gaps in learning, and diverse misconceptions from bad school experiences. We have three principles underlying our Multiply/Maths curriculum here at the college and study skills are incredibly important: • Care • Teaching why: not how • 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗮𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗵𝘀 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿 I cannot do better than quote one of our learners in how beneficial Century has been to them because it allowed them to learn "...𝙞𝙣 𝙢𝙮 𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙩𝙞𝙢𝙚... 𝙖𝙩 𝙢𝙮 𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙚... 𝙞𝙣 𝙢𝙮 𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙨𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙚..." We have a very clear strategy for using Century at the college and we ensure that our students understand and follow its principles to ensure that they develop deep learning. In our recent inspection, Ofsted really appreciated this clear strategy and what a great tool it was for individualised learning plans. You can find more in a case study here https://lnkd.in/gEFi58mG In December 2023 we were delighted to be the winners of Century's Winter Cup, which sits proudly in the college's Victorian library. How proud are those learners of their efforts and recognition? Let's see if we can come home with a wet sail for the end of Multiply and win this year's Spring Cup. Vineeta Tripathi and I are both proud to be Century Ambassadors (although I'm also entirely objective) and it has been a great pleasure to work with Sam Wignell at Century as our account manager. He's absolutely the best; hugely supportive of us; always patient; quick to respond to any queries; agile and imaginative in finding solutions for us. On day 2 of my Northern CENTURY Tech road trip, Cleopatra Darwish and I visited the wonderful Leeds College of Building who are using CENTURY to ensure that all learners are able to improve Maths, English and Digital Skills outcomes across all course offerings. It was so great to catch up with Costina Babanau, Menna and Steve Connell and hear just how passionate the whole team were about CENTURY's impact beyond the walls of a M+E classroom. It's always a pleasure delivering to such a positive group. Thank you for being so welcoming and we look forward to returning soon!

CENTURY Tech Thank you, That streak has gone up quite a bit since then. I've been keeping it going; it currently stands around a little over 10 weeks away from doubling the streak mentioned in the post : ) Again, to anyone who sees this, Doing Century is generally worth it. It has helped me pass both my GCSE Maths and English, and it helps me ensure that my skills are up there. It's there to help. You may not think it, but doing Century will help you. Just look at where I started and where I am now. Century has and will continue to play a part in my education. Yes, I've passed both Maths and English, but as mentioned, it still helps me keep my skills up to date. For anyone doing GCSEs in May and June, give Century a go. It will most certainly help you in some way, shape, or form. You may not want to do it, but it is perfect for revision.
