From intern to full-time team member, Ben Statsick's journey with CG Schmidt is one of growth, learning, and opportunity. Ben joined our Madison office as a Project Engineer Intern in 2021, and after graduating from University of Wisconsin-Platteville in 2022, he stepped into a full-time role as a Project Engineer. Reflecting on his internship, Ben shared: "My summer internship was overall amazing experience. Working with the Madison Special Projects Group helped me gain so much knowledge about the construction industry. I liked the fact that I was working on multiple different projects every day. I couldn’t have asked for a better team to work with." We’re proud to see how our internship program nurtures talent and creates pathways for future leaders in the construction industry. In a project that exemplifies innovation and expertise, we partnered with EVCO Plastics to deliver a 50,000 sq. ft. expansion, more than doubling their facility's size. The addition included tripling their ISO Class 8 clean room and creating modern spaces for offices, storage, and production. We’re proud to have helped EVCO Plastics achieve their goals with this state-of-the-art facility alongside the help of Dimension IV Madison Design Group. Ready to elevate your next project? We believe in building a better tomorrow, today, whether it’s through construction or supporting our communities. This weekend, Joel Baraka took on the 2025 Frozen Lake Asset race, hosted by Clean Lakes Alliance, to help protect and preserve Madison’s lakes for future generations. As a University of Wisconsin-Madison alum, Joel has always appreciated the beauty of Lake Mendota, and we’re proud to support efforts that ensure it remains a vibrant part of the community. Thanks to Clean Lakes Alliance for organizing this great event — and to the creative mind who placed a Terrace chair in the middle of the frozen lake. Talk about the ultimate Wisconsin moment!

Charles G. Schmidt had a vision in 1920: to craft quality structures that stand the test of time. Beginning as a freelance mason, he built his business from the ground up, laying sidewalks, basements, and chimneys. Today, we proudly carry forward his legacy at CG Schmidt, delivering exceptional construction projects and making a lasting impact in the communities we serve.

We’re thrilled to share that our Canstruction Milwaukee team won the People’s Choice Award! A huge thank you to everyone who voted and to our incredible partner, Engberg Anderson Architects. While the competition is always a fun challenge, the real reward is knowing that over 41,000 cans will be donated to the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center of Milwaukee, helping fight food insecurity in our community. A big shoutout to all the teams who participated – your creativity and generosity make a real impact. We're looking forward to next year!

We recently joined forces with Engberg Anderson Architects to construct a giant OSCAR MAYER FOODS wienermobile. As part of Canstruction Milwaukee, 13 teams turned 40,000 cans of food into incredible Wisconsin-themed sculptures, all for a great cause. You can see these sculptures on display at the Milwaukee Public Museum through Monday, February 17, after which all the food will be donated to the Jewish Community Pantry to support local families in need. We’re honored to take part in this initiative that showcases our creativity, teamwork, and community impact. Be sure to check it out before the exhibit ends!
