About us
CHAngeing Excellence Hubs is a collaborative partnership between two Excellence Hubs Ecosystems for Healthy Living and Longevity, located in the Centro Region of Portugal (Coimbra territory) and Crete in Greece (Heraklion territory). CHAngeing will transform and interconnect two excellence hubs in widening countries, located in southern Europe (Portugal and Greece), into ageing-related R&I poles of attraction in Europe, contributing to job creation and economic growth, as well to the global European R&I agenda response to ageing-related societal challenges, Green Deal and Digital Transition. This will be accomplished on the basis of science-based interventions to promote healthy lifestyles supported by Mediterranean diet culture to prevent cerebrovascular diseases (CVD) and better manage rehabilitation of stroke patients.

𝟭𝟭𝘁𝗵 𝗠𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵, 𝟭𝟮𝗵𝟬𝟬: Andre Obenaus , Ph.D. will deliver the seminar "𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘃𝗮𝘀𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘂𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝗻𝗷𝘂𝗿𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗔𝗹𝘇𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗿'𝘀 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲" in room 75 of 𝘀𝘂𝗯𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁 𝟯 (floor -1) of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra (Polo III). The neuronal and inflammatory consequences of traumatic brain injury (TBI) and Alzheimer's Disease (AD) have been well documented, but how the vasculature contributes to these disease states is relatively unknown. There is a growing acknowledgement that TBI can progress towards AD and related dementias while TBI in AD subjects is thought to exacerbate disease progression. We are currently exploring morphological and functional changes in the cerebrovasculature to identify potential overlapping mechanisms to guide new avenues of research and ultimately therapeutic interventions. Andre Obenaus, Ph.D is a professor at Division of Biomedical Sciences, School of Medicine at the University of California Riverside in California.
