NEWS ALERT 📣 The National Council of Nonprofits breaks down what new federal grant guidance means for nonprofits (including more indirect costs being covered 👏 👏 👏 )

We cannot agree more with this sentiment. #Nonprofit boards MUST do everything they can to be representative of those they serve. This could mean creating a process to ensure #clientrepresentation (by application or invitation), actively recruiting clients who have graduated out of your services to join the board, developing an advisory council of clients and former clients…. Whatever it is, don’t just stand there, DO SOMETHING to make sure those you serve are in the room where it happens.

📣 AWARENESS ALERT 📣 The National Council of Nonprofits has very kindly distilled the 648 pages 😳 of the overhaul of federal #grant guidance into three concise pages. The point of this overhaul is to make it easier for #nonprofits to access federal funds by removing unnecessary complexities from the process. We have not yet evaluated the necessary complexities that remain, but fingers crossed 🤞 this will open up federal funding to organizations who really need it. That being said... a nonprofit still needs to be "grant ready" to apply for and administer #federal dollars 💵. It is NOT, and never will be, easy money.

#FUNDRAISING can have a bad rap, but it's simply about connecting people who are interested 💡 with causes that interest them. Let's say it another way to help it sink in 🤔 ... Fundraisers provide #OPPORTUNITIES to make an impact for people who WANT to invest in creating that impact (or provide opportunities for public recognition for people who appreciate being publicly recognized, etc.). And HOW to do this comes down to these three activities: ✅ EDUCATE ✅ ASK ✅ THANK Very few people will invest in potential impact unless you EDUCATE them about: 1️⃣ The Problem and 2️⃣ How You Are Helping Solve the Problem Even fewer people will donate or invest 💰 unless you ASK. And finally, most people will not give again if you don't THANK them quickly and with real appreciation (Hot Tip: It is MUCH less expensive to keep current supporters than to go find new ones, so THANK PEOPLE).

For all your WONDERFUL people who want to make the #holidays brighter ✨ for your favorite #nonprofit and those they serve, here are the important dates to have your donation count in 2023: -Checks sent via the U.S. Postal Service must be postmarked on or before Saturday, December 30. -Checks sent via carriers such as FedEx, UPS, and DHL must be received on or before Friday, December 29. The airway bill must also be dated on or before Friday, December 29. -Wire transfers of cash must be received no later than Friday, December 29. We recommend initiating the transfer no later than Friday, December 22. -Credit card gifts must be made by phone by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, December 29 or online until Sunday, December 31. -Gifts of appreciated stock should be made by Thursday, December 21 in order to be received by December 29. Notify the recipient organization prior to initiating the transfer. Please note that transfers of mutual funds may take additional time.
