  • The Charter of Trust has hosted its traditional Thematic Dinner at Munich Security Conference with the theme “From Cyber Fences do Defences: Reversing Cyber Policy Fragmentation”. With all the talk about Multipolarization at this year’s #MSC, it was an immense pleasure for the Charter of Trust to welcome several high-ranking members from NATO, European Union Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA), European External Action Service, and several National Cybersecurity Authorities as well as national military and parliaments. We especially want to thank our speakers and guests of honour for enriching the truly inspiring international discussions during our dinner. Overall, the event showed that the role of the Charter of Trust in fostering global cooperation across industries and countries is more relevant than ever against the changing geopolitical background. Some key points have emerged from the discussions throughout the evening. ❗ Cyber-attacks and disinformation increasingly threaten our economies and democracies. There is an urgent need for a more robust and common response to defer such cyber-attacks and to draw respective consequences. 🤝 The role of public-private cooperation in cyber defence is essential, because the private sector bears enormous capabilities that are highly needed to effectively defend our information systems, economies, and democracies. 💻 AI is beginning to become a major battlefield. Critical infrastructure needs to be quantum-cryptographically protected. This dinner was the perfect end for a very successful month in which the Charter of Trust held its Board of Directors meeting electing new co-chairs, the Security by Default working group published its sixth report (available on our website) and held a high-level panel discussion at #MCSC, and several CISOs and CSOs from the Charter of Trust Partners published a playbook talking about cybersecurity and hybrid threats. #CharterOfTrust #MSC #CyberPolicy #Collaboration

Our latest Charter of Trust report, published at Munich Security Conference brings together exclusive insights from top CISOs and CSOs across our Partner network, offering a clear perspective on the evolving threat landscape—and the actions needed to strengthen global resilience. Some takeaways include: ✅ Threat actors emerge all over the globe and their tactics become more sophisticated every day. Advanced threat detection and multi-layered defense is no longer optional. ✅ Cyber threats aren’t waiting—neither should we. It’s time to move beyond siloed security approaches and foster open dialogue, within and beyond our industries. ✅ Multinational organizations can lead the charge in collective defense on the technical side as well on the formation of talent and implementing zero trust architectures. The experiences of the Charter of Trust partners offer valuable lessons for addressing the complexities of hybrid threats. Our Partners operate in dynamic, high-stakes environments providing a blueprint for industry peers to improve preparedness. cyber threats serve as a constant reminder to enhance capabilities, innovate in detection, and collaborate across industries. Hybrid threats transcend borders and industries—so must our response. Multinational corporations, as both prime targets and key defenders, are uniquely positioned to drive unified action. Initiatives like the Charter of Trust showcase the power of collaboration in strengthening global cybersecurity and shaping a more secure future. • What a start to the busiest week of the year at the Charter of Trust. Today the Board of Directors, the highest decision-making body of the alliance, came together in Munich to discuss the achievements from last year and lay the foundation of the future of the Charter of Trust.   The Partners thanked Chairwoman Natalia Oropeza for her great leadership during a highly successful year bringing to live the new internal structure with the four working groups and smoothly integrating new Partners and Associated Partners. Externally, the Charter of Trust also had a great time with lots of media engagement, conferences, panel discussions, and events throughout the year.   Going forward, the Charter of Trust will for the first time be co-chaired with Dr Sumit Chanda, Chief Operating Office at Atos and Ralf Schneider, Head of Cybersecurity at Allianz taking over from Natalia. We congratulate both for an excellent presentation of their vision and mission for the next year. Putting resilient ecosystems, harmonised frameworks and cybersecurity education together promises to be an exciting mix for 2025. Special thanks to Benedikt Franke, Vice-Chairman & Chief Executive Officer at #MSC, for taking the time and giving a great impulse presentation about the current threat landscape and what values the Charter of Trust adds to global solutions.    #BoardOfDirectors #CharterofTrust #Chairmanship #Vision2025

  • Bridging the Regulatory Gap in Cybersecurity is possible - let's talk about it🌐 The second edition of our CyberTrust Talk was a resounding success with more than 80 people joining us in person and online at the Microsoft Center in Brussels! It was an honor for the Charter of Trust to bring together industry leaders, policymakers, and cybersecurity experts for a deep dive into the challenges and solutions around global cybersecurity regulations.   💡 Key Takeaways & Insights from Our Experts:   🌍 Christiane Kirketerp de Viron, Acting Director for Digital Society, Trust and Cybersecurity, European Commission, reaffirmed the Commission’s focus on implementing NIS2 and CRA, acknowledging concerns about practical compliance challenges. She encouraged businesses to share implementation challenges and called for streamlined cyber incident reporting.    📢 Jeremy Rollison, Director of EU Government Affairs, Microsoft, highlighted the importance of regulatory harmonization, particularly in incident reporting, and called on both public and private sector actors to drive international alignment on compliance in cybersecurity.   🔒 Paul Timmers, Research Associate, University of Oxford, called for an integrated approach to cybersecurity policy, stressing that cybersecurity is not just a tech issue but also an economic and geopolitical one. He underscored the importance of standardization for harmonizing product assurance levels and emphasized the EU’s need to strengthen multilateral cooperation and cyber diplomacy.   🏛️ Jean-Marc Leclerc, Head of EU Policy, IBM, framed cybersecurity as a competitiveness issue, advocating for a reduction in regulatory burdens and clearer interpretations of existing regulations. He also raised concerns about regulatory overlap in incident reporting, which increases paperwork, and suggested leveraging AI to enhance cybersecurity while preparing for post-quantum cryptography challenges.   🔐 Sudhir Ethiraj, Global Head of Cybersecurity Office, TÜV SÜD, emphasized the need for security by default, ensuring security and privacy are embedded at both process and organizational levels. He also addressed the varying understanding of cyber regulations across industries and touched on trustworthiness in AI and the push for a common certification approach across EU and national regulations.   👏 A huge thank you to our esteemed guests and to our great moderator Dr Sumit Chanda, Group CISO at Eviden for an engaging and active panel discussion. The collaboration, expertise, and thought leadership in the room made this event truly impactful.   Let’s keep the momentum going at the upcoming #MCSC and #MSC events in February towards a more aligned, secure, and resilient cybersecurity community
