At the Chesapeake Bay Trust, we believe that harnessing the power of local communities is key to addressing environmental challenges. Take, for example, a West Severna Park community along the Severn River. For years, this neighborhood struggled with the growing impacts of shoreline erosion and flooding. Determined to take action, they envisioned installing a living shoreline to protect their homes and restore the ecosystems our critter friends rely on. However, they needed additional support to bring their vision to life.   Thanks to the generous support of donors and partners, we were able to provide the funding and resources necessary to complete the project. The result? A restored shoreline that reduces erosion, absorbs stormwater, and provides critical habitat for local wildlife.   For every project we can fund, there are three more waiting for support. That’s why we need your help. The Baltimore City Office of Sustainability has some really great programs scheduled for this week!  The Office of Sustainability and Baltimore Civic Fund will be hosting an information session on December 17th from 2-3pm to discuss their NEW environmental offset grants. These opportunities provide up to $75,000 to support activities that will restore and expand the tree canopy and urban forests, improve quality of waterways, and improve quality of life and habitats in Baltimore City.
