About us
Created in 1971 by the Pennsylvania General Assembly, the Chester County Intermediate Unit is a regional educational service agency that exists to provide quality, cost-effective services to the community and its residents. The Chester County Intermediate Unit administers instructional, enrichment and administrative programs and services to Chester County’s 12 public school districts, and to over 45 private and parochial schools in the county. These programs include instructional, remedial and enrichment services for regular and special education students and career and technical education programs for secondary and post-secondary students. The CCIU provides direct instruction to over 5,000 students a year and support services to an additional 30,000 students a year. In addition, the IU supports teachers, school administrators, school directors and school districts through a multitude of services, including, but not limited to: business and administrative services, communications services, technology services and human resources. The diversity of CCIU programs enables IU staff to interact with school district personnel at all levels and to maintain a cohesive educational network throughout Chester County.

Thank you to The Chester County Chamber of Business & Industry for having #TeamCCIU represented at their final Speaker Series of 2024! #CCIU Executive Director, Dr. George Fiore, joined a panel of experts to discuss the various pathways to a successful business community. A wholistic approach to education from an early age is key. We are thankful to prioritize this necessary component to strengthen and support our community and beyond. #TogetherWeGrowCCIU
We could not have picked a better topic for our last Speaker Series of 2024! Our expert panelists not only shared their unique journeys from high school to career kick starters to present day success, but they also shared why these various pathways were, and still are, essential to our business community. For some, a four-year college degree is the most accessible way forward. For others, trade schools or tech schools spark both joy and opportunity as we're seeing a labor shortage. No one route is the "correct" way forward and according to our panelists, it starts with education from an early age. It is essential for students to gain exposure in a wholistic approach to education and the workforce without stigma or judgement as we have historically seen. Establishments like the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU) and speakers like ours today are the changes that will inspire and invigorate our next generation. Special thanks to: Deborah Chang Abel, Co-Owner and Operator of Abel Brothers Towing, William Adams, President / Asst. Business Manager of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) 654 and Dr. George Fiore, Executive Director of Chester County Intermediate Unit!
