Investing in women and girls as catalyst, building strong communities for all.
About us
Chicago Foundation for Women raises money to fund and support organizations that help women and girls – it's all about making smarter connections between need, money and solutions. We believe that when women and girls are secure, whole communities are made better. We are a community of people who share the excitement of giving to help women and girls thrive. We improve the lives of women and girls through grants, advocacy, leadership development, and public and grantee education. Since 1985, we have awarded more than 4,000 grants totaling nearly $41 million and helped thousands of women and girls across the Chicago region. Our grantmaking focuses on three strategies to improve the lives of women, girls, trans, and gender non-binary individuals: * Expanding economic security * Ensuring freedom from violence * Enhancing access to health services and information We value – in ourselves and every organization we support – the core principles of equality, empowerment, diversity, collaboration and integrity. We envision a world in which all women and girls have the opportunity to achieve their potential and live in safe, just and healthy communities.

On Transgender Day of Remembrance, we acknowledge and remember the lives of transgender individuals who have been tragically lost due to violence and discrimination. And while we mourn those who are no longer with us, we must also recognize the strength and resilience of the transgender community, which in the face of immense adversity and danger, continues to be on the front lines of advancing equality for all. This day is a poignant reminder that we all play a role in building a future where every individual, regardless of gender identity, can live freely without fear and thrive. #TransgenderDayofRemembrance

When I asked Keenya Brown Lambert, CEO of the Chicago Foundation for Women, how she is doing, she said I'm resilient. I loved that response because it captured her deep commitment to the work she does every day to support the many organizations that invest in women and girls so they are healthy, safe and economically secure. Needed now more than ever. She is not alone. Janice Jackson, EdD leads Hope Chicago which is committed to debt-free college degrees or professional certifications for two generations within each family at five high schools in Chicago. That's transformative for families and communities. BMO U.S. brought these two dynamic CEOs together with a group of women leaders who are also philanthropists and community leaders as the company prepares to participate in its industry-leading employee giving campaign. Thank you Ann Marie Wright, Carolyn A. Booth and Sharon Haward-Laird for hosting a powerful session and modeling the impact women givers can have. You made a compelling case for the support needed. It was an inspiring session and a reminder that we all are resilient and blessed to be in a position to help others. #womensrights #gratitude #healthequity #education #philanthropy #generosity #BMOGrowtheGood
