🎤 Moderating a panel or interviewing someone onstage? 🎁 Gifting you my tips from years as an award-winning journalist, science communication expert, and private detective who connects with humans across all walks of life! 💫 Engage with your audience. Just because you and your interviewee are on a stage discussing great things, it doesn't mean you're the only ones in the room. An eager audience of great humans is there! Talk to them and react to them, too! 💫 Have fun! The more fun you have as your authentic self, the more your interviewee will feel relaxed and be THEIR authentic selves. Leave space for spontaneous reactions and improv. No one wants to hear from a robot repeating canned answers to routine questions! 💫 Ask questions that spark emotion. Your audience has likely already read your interviewee's bio, the book, watched the movie, etc. What's something that attendees can only get and hear from this onstage interview or panel? Excited to share that I had the incredible opportunity to interview Dr. Geeta Nayyar, MD, MBA at the ITM Grand Round Series this past Friday at MATTER. Our conversation touched on so many critical topics, including her debut novel Dead Wrong: Diagnosing and Treating Healthcare’s Misinformation Illness. We delved into how we can combat misinformation and the importance of scaling trust in science and medicine. We also explored a topic close to my heart: the role of women in leadership and how we can continue to champion equity, innovation, and impact in this space.
