    Making oats out of chickpeas.

    Although everything went wrong, we successfully pitched ChiChi at the Great Brands show in NYC! The room was packed with investors and food founders I admire (ALOHA, Sakara Life, Mezcla), and we handed out ChiChi chocolate chip waffle samples at our table. And because failures are more interesting, here are the things that went wrong 1) We couldn’t find a microwave anywhere in midtown (I checked Target, Jack's, Lot-Less), so instead of serving regular ChiChi hot cereal, we had to improvise with waffles. 2) I didn’t rehearse the pitch ahead of time. While cooking waffles and talking with investors, I was simultaneously practicing the pitch in my head—not fun. 3) I forgot to eat breakfast (off-brand, I know, but we didn't have a microwave to make ChiChi!) and I felt terrible by midday due to stress and hunger. But at the last second we pulled it together, we pitched our hearts out and made a few great connections (manifesting QVC 🫣). Plus, I realized I need to have more fun at opportunities like these (I was stressed af)

  • This fall we are gearing up for ✨ChiChi 4.0✨... Right now we are working on updating our packaging, testing new flavors, ordering fresh chickpeas, and improving our pack/pricing structure online. We also have a meeting with a HUGE buyer this week! BIG things are happening. But, before we finalize decisions we want to make sure our customers are on the same page, so we made a simple survey.     Woke up feeling like I was hit by a truck. But it was just a successful Expo West! ChiChi's first trade show - ✅ Here are the highlights: 1. Fan-girling over the Chobani founder IRL 2. Dream retailers and shark tank 🦈 team loving ChiChi 👀 3. People saying our little biz was their favorite in the whole show So happy to be building a brand I love so much with Izzy Gorton - we did this!!!!!

    Hard to believe these photos were taken less than 1 year apart... 1. April 2023 - Selling ChiChi at the farmer's market. We were hand making every pouch. Our product was FARR from perfect but I have very happy memories. 2. Today - Selling ChiChi at the biggest natural foods trade show in the US (Expo West). Surprisingly our 1st trade show feels like the farmers market, giving samples and having fun. And I still feel clueless sometimes. Here are my day 1 highlights - - Getting AMAZING feedback on our newest formulation (🔜 👀) - Meeting the Magic Spoon founders (inspo) - My mom taking off work to help us at our booth If you're in Anaheim Thursday or Friday - stop by booth #8100 for some chickpeas for breakfast!

    My mom and I just went to see our new ChiChi SKUs on the shelf for the first time. She asked "Doesn't it feel good?!" It is our biggest grocery account and in LA, my hometown! But I did feel good... I felt mild panic. Now that we are finally on the shelf we have to SELL off it. And if we don't we get booted. So for the next few months I will be posted up at a table in the stores slinging samples.
