📢 Sharing Our Year-End Newsletter 📄 As 2024 comes to a close, we reflect on a year that has shown what can be achieved when we work together across sectors, geographies, and generations. From our historic AGM in Nairobi, where changemakers and funders united, to the launch of our Youth for Impactful Philanthropy (YIP) Fellowship and collaboration with Children's Rights Innovation Fund (CRIF) and We Trust You(th) Initiative, this year has been a powerful reminder of the impact of collective action. 🌍✨ We also want to take a moment to celebrate and thank Zoe Trout for her incredible service to ECFG over the past four years. 🎉After an incredible journey through 2024, it’s time for us to lay down our tools and take a well-deserved break for the holidays. This year has been one of bold dreams, ambitious targets, and invaluable lessons from navigating both triumphs and challenges as the #CRIF Team. Yet, we’ve drawn endless inspiration from all of you - our allies, young leaders, donors, and partners. We will officially shut down today, 19th December 2024 and resume work on 6th January, 2025, ready to continue from where we left off. 🥳We’re excited to introduce the outstanding youth activist leaders of our 2024 Collaboratives for decolonize! and What’s Possible. These remarkable changemakers are leading the way in deciding which organizations or individuals will receive grants through each grant portfolio. They played a pivotal role in designing the application process and are now making key decisions to move resources to their peers in Nigeria, Kenya, the Caribbean and across the world. 🌍✨ We’re thrilled to celebrate Kamori O., one of our Youth for Impactful Philanthropy (YIP) Fellows, who represented Thailand as a youth delegate at COP29 in Azerbaijan two weeks ago!  ✨🌍 Kamori shared her reflections on COP29, expressing excitement about seeing progress in gender equity and youth inclusion, though highlighted the need for more attention to children’s and women’s rights, and greater inclusion of the LGBTQIA+ community. Her voice reminds us that tackling the climate crisis requires intersectional, inclusive solutions that center youth power. Philanthropy has a crucial role to play in enabling this vision by investing in youth-led movements and amplifying the leadership of young changemakers, like Kamori, driving transformative change in their own communities. 💥We can’t wait to announce the #CRIF Collaboratives and the grant awards that will follow! In the meantime, we want to take you through the entire process so you can see what each stage looks like for the young decision-makers at #CRIF. From August 15th to September 28th, CRIF made waves with the launch of our double call for proposals for the decolonize! and What’s Possible grants. This dual call marked a historic moment for us as a Children’s Rights Funder towards honouring the vision, resistance, and transformative work of young people. We received an overwhelming response: ✨ decolonize!: Over 200 applications rolled in from Kenya, Nigeria, and the Caribbean, from Black Youth Activists using Arts in pursuit of justice. 🌍 What’s Possible: A staggering 1,200+ applications flooded in from every corner of the globe, submitted by youth-led groups (ages 11–28). These applications have been reviewed by the decolonize! and What’s Possible Collaboratives, whose members will be announced soon. Keep an eye out for more insights into the processes that brought this all to life.
