Earlier this week, our board member, Tiffany Jones of The National Association for Family Child Care (NAFCC), spoke as a panelist during the Campaign for Grade-Level Reading webinar, “Child Care Has Shifted: Are We Ready for the Future?” The panel explored what it will take to reimagine child care—who it serves, who funds it, and how it can better meet families' needs. Tiffany was joined on the panel by early childhood educators, administrators, and policy experts representing diverse settings and child care options: Rhian Allvin of Brynmor Early Education & Preschool; Jamal B. of Educare DC; Kayla Corbitt of Operation Child Care Project; Marica Cox Mitchell of the Bainum Family Foundation. Susan Gale Perry of Child Care Aware of America moderated. Thank you, Campaign for Grade-Level Reading, for welcoming Tiffany to speak on this important panel!

#ICYMI: Our first-ever Annual Report was officially released last week! We couldn’t be prouder to highlight a year’s worth of collective action in our community. Read the 2024 Annual Report: https://lnkd.in/gSzZTGpa In the report, you’ll learn about Hope Grows Child Development Center and Minds in Motion, two child care centers that participated in the Pre-K Expansion Grant application process and are committed to providing high-quality Pre-K to Montgomery County’s children. Hope Grows CDC II applied for the grant to serve more young children whose families could not afford tuition but wanted the best possible educational start for their 3- or 4-year-olds. They were one of the first centers to partner with the Alliance. Minds in Motion, with deep connections in high-need areas of Gaithersburg and additional funding from Montgomery County, was able to add a second classroom of Pre-K seats and enroll an additional 20 children at no cost to the families. We are truly grateful for their partnership and contributions to our community. #ChildCare #ChildCareSupport #AffordableChildCare #MontgomeryCountyMD

Montgomery County Government has issued a request for proposals (RFP #1176210) for a vendor to lead a Shared Services Alliance. A Shared Services Alliance is a concept where groups of licensed childcare programs (defined as Family Child Care, Large Family Child Care, Centers, and Letters of Compliance) come together through a central hub to form a network and pay dues to achieve economies of scale in purchasing goods and services. This would provide a system that licensed child care programs could use to lower costs associated with supply procurement, technology support, accounting, training and technical assistance, human resources, and billing support. Want to learn more? The RFP can be accessed through the County's procurement BidNet webpage. Interested vendors must register with BidNet to view and download the solicitation documents. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/e_GGjAZJ 🗓️ Proposal Submission Deadline: December 20, 2024 #MontgomeryCountyMD #EarlyChildhood #CommunityDevelopment #EarlyCare #Education #ECE
