  • For nearly a year I have been sourcing and applying to bids for Chronically Brown to continue our services and develop new ones. However, after our first initial bid with the National Lottery, they have decided its not a project they want to continue to fund. The lack of understanding of inclusion was paramount through this process and it’s unfortunate that we couldn’t continue the services due to it. Besides this, the VCFSE sector is really struggling to cater to the need of social issues currently which has made the funding more competitive than before. Outside of the formalities of funding, I have decided this is the best time for me to focus on my mental and physical health. Having a day job, health issues and then volunteering on CB was becoming difficult to manage when I had little to no time for my social life and personal interests. Due to this, I have made the really difficult decision to halt all our work at CB. Does this means it is the end? No, Chronically Brown was intended to inspire others to embrace identities they hadn’t before and it can still hold some hope for people that come across the pages. However, the team and I will no longer be working on projects for the current year. Why am I sharing this? I believe there was some transparency needed on why the organisation has been so silent lately and all the amazing people (you reading this!) deserved to know what was happening behind the scenes. I appreciate that many of you may feel gutted from this and for that I can only apologise but I hope you can appreciate the need to prioritise myself. - Sukhjeen x
