With the news yesterday, Festivus took on a different tone - but our first go at it was fun and constructive nonetheless! Among the grievances submitted: - 33% related to cost/pricing - 16% each related to clinical quality / training and data issues (interoperability and structure) - 11% related to access - The rest were miscellaneous but solid, including women's health focusing on topics other than maternal health Some non-healthcare grievances also snuck in (i.e. traffic, meetings, etc.). We didn't just air grievances but also talked about potential solutions, including: - Improved care navigation and pricing tools - Clinical work/life balance ("Are Gen Z nurses smarter for refusing to work nights?") - Smoothing the transition into clinical practice from training The team from Creatives On Call did a phenomenal job giving us a great space, delicious food, and tasty beverages! For a solution, they thought it may be worth publicizing how patient data is truly used in some health systems and vetting data purchasers to ensure data is used in a manner that furthers a health system's non-profit status and improves patient care.   See you tomorrow night for more insightful grievances and solutions!

Wherever you fall in thinking about Dr. Oz's CMS nomination, it seems like a relevant time to remind Cincinnati healthcare folks that we'll be gathering to celebrate "Healthcare Festivus" and air our healthcare grievances in 2 weeks. What a fun and exciting night hearing the knowledge dropped by two healthcare pricing and finance experts: Bill Banks and Matthew Robben!
