Reflecting on Our Annual Cultural Competence Training 🌍✨ On November 1st, we had the privilege of hosting an insightful and thought-provoking session as part of our Annual Cultural Competence Training. This year, we focused on two critical topics: antisemitism and anti-Muslim discrimination, with expert speakers Sireen Sawalha and Dr. Lindsay Warren leading the discussion. Their presentations deepened our understanding of these important issues, helping us explore the impact of discrimination on individuals and communities. We discussed strategies for identifying and addressing bias, fostering empathy, and promoting respect across cultural and religious lines. A special thank you to Sireen and Dr. Warren for sharing their expertise and engaging us in such an important conversation. We're grateful to everyone who attended and contributed to making this session a success. We recently had the privilege of participating in a specialized training program from the Paterson Healing Collective, designed for care managers and therapists. This essential training equips our team with the skills needed to address the complex issue of gun violence effectively 🌟 Key takeaways included: - Understanding the dynamics of gun violence - Practical mediation techniques - Strategies for engaging hard-to-reach youth We learned about utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to rewire harmful thought patterns, ultimately aiming to prevent gun violence. By deepening our understanding of the social and psychological factors at play, we are better prepared to intervene and support at-risk individuals in our community.
